  1. Nice.... tempted. How many servers do I need? I have 6 already. Think I'm an addict.
  2. Mac addresses are Inventec.... some outfit in Taiwan. I would also buy and try given the opportunity. (Don't ship to UK)
  3. My X10SLM-F-B does this. Having tried numerous things to fix it including everything in this thread apart from change the PSU I'm suspecting either a faulty motherboard or PSU. Since the only time I'm switching it off is to take it apart I decided to live with it and just hit the button.
  4. I agree, wasn't obvious what had changed after looking at git.
  5. I use file checksums and check them periodically. Doesn't help if I get corruption but at least I'll know its happening and can fix. I've got a Seagate Momentus XT in one of my servers as a cache drive which was silently corrupting files..... firmware fix, but was painful to figure out even when I knew files were getting corrupted.
  6. My plex folder is almost the same, as shown in windows. I guess it's something to do with the fact there are 700000 files in it..... some of which are actually links to other files.
  7. Well unraid makes getting started with virtualization pretty easy so depending what hardware you have then it could be a good way to get started. You will definitely need a dedicated GPU for anything you want to connect a physical monitor to or for gaming, for linux servers you don't need a GPU as you could just connect using a remote desktop or via command line. You might also want to look at vmware's free hypervisor as that is also well documented and fairly easy to use with the right hardware.
  8. I'm going to guess this only affects external drives... still a nasty trick however.
  9. Do you want NAS functionality? Or just virtualization?
  10. I buy NAS drives primarily for the longer warranty too. If greens/blues/oranges/lilacs had longer warranties for a reasonable price I would buy those instead.
  11. You will need to enable some kind of port channel / trunk (LACP / 802.3ad), this will need to be configured on the switch and both devices. If you don't do this then you may be creating a loop which will most likely manifest as you have described. Due to the way LACP works don't expect to be able to copy at 2gb between two devices.... each flow will get pinned to a single nic at each end resulting in only getting up to 1gb per connection.
  12. Before I ditched my cache pool it looked like this. Cache 2 was offline, after a reboot it decided cache 2 was back and started throwing errors so I pulled Cache 2.... after running on one cache drive for a few days I rebooted and the remaining disk wouldn't mount..... couldn't get btrfs to repair and could only mount it read only..... so formatted XFS and gave up. What does smart look like for Cache 2?
  13. Personally I use a VPN to my home router. Once connected to the VPN I can do everything I can do at home like SSH to unraid or access the GUI. I have an Asus router and use their built in Dynamic DNS to get a name for my dynmaic IP.
  14. If you change the number of cache slots then it expects btrfs formatted disks so you would need to format the cache or change the slots back to 1.
  15. There is a procedure for swapping the parity drive to a larger one, assuming you want to add the old parity drive to the array :- https://lime-technology.com/wiki/index.php/The_parity_swap_procedure
  16. To replace the cache drive just stop anything using it, plugins, docker etc. Copy the contents to an array drive, install the new drive and copy everything back. Having spent the last two weeks using a cache pool and having nothing but problems and not finding much help for recovering btrfs filesystems I've gone back to XFS myself.
  17. I believe you need a dedicated video card for the Ubuntu VM although the onboard HDMI should at least show you the unRAID console.
  18. The disk will stay red once unaid marks it failed. Just looking to get a smart report at this point to see if it offers any clues as to whether the disk is good or not.

  20. I wonder if dual parity will slow down writes to the array significantly.
