  1. I posted a similar thread on the Facebook group - "UnRAID Users & Help Group" (my username on FB is Ken Morris Jr) and jiawen2018 on eBay was recommended. So I ordered a SuperMicro 9207-8I after watching a youtube video by "The Art of Server" who said his favorite LSI 9207-8I card is the SuperMicro variant. I am disappointed by the lack of replies from the UnRaid community on this forum. However I am not surprised as that has been my experience posting on this forum. I have much better luck on the Facebook group. I see why no one here sees any value in listing sellers who can be trusted and those who operate fly by night, hoodwinker operations. This is not the friendly community it is touted to be. Sorry if I offend, just basing it on my own experiences here.
  2. Why not post a link to the fix for these Seagate Ironwolf 8TBs. I have two of these hard drives in my Unraid box and in the hunt for a LSI 9207-8i and would appreciate to know in advance what this "fix" is. Thanks kindly....
  3. I found this article online and thought it maybe of some use to anyone purchasing a Dell Perc H310. When I worked with Novell Netware servers a lot of our enterprise file/print servers were Dell and HP. So I am a little familiar with Dell Perc and Megaraid SCSI controllers but in all fairness that was close to 20 years ago. I am now 70 and the memory is a little cloudy at times. https://www.vladan.fr/flash-dell-perc-h310-with-it-firmware/
  4. Anyone have any experience with Server Monkey? https://www.servermonkey.com/parts-and-upgrades/other-parts-upgrades.html
  5. Or ServerSupply? https://www.serversupply.com/
  6. Anyone have any experience with ALLHDD, they appear to sell a lot of used server stuff? https://www.allhdd.com/
  7. With all the chicanery that exists on places like ebay, Aliexpress, Kijiji, etc, there should be compiled a list of trusted vendors. The only one I know of is "The Art of Server" on ebay. I have not had any dealings, but I hear nothing but praise for the product and service. https://www.ebay.ca/str/theartofserver?_sop=15&_pgn=2 Can anyone else recommend any online vendors they have had good experience with or have heard of good reviews? Thanks kindly....
  8. I certainly would not want you to open them up with a kinife...LOL Many thanks for the reply, I truly appreciate it.
  9. Anyone use these cables?
  10. Just curious as I'm thinking on building a 2nd Unraid server especially for VMs using hardware passthrough and will be using a GTX 750. Do you have separate monitors attached to the older PCI card and another monitor attached to the GTX 750? Thanks kindly
  11. Checked Newegg.ca and they also carry these cables - but they are asking $50. Please note both the Amazon and Newegg are the Canadian sites and the price is in Canadian dollars. So American prices should be quite a bit less. Newegg also has posted the data transmission is safe and stable - does this mean they are shielded? https://www.newegg.ca/black-cabledeconn-1m-coax-cables/p/0ZF-00GP-00001
  12. I was also wondering this as well.
  13. I've ordered this SATA cable to help tidy up the growing octopus nest of sata cables in my computer. I only purchased one set and will use on 4 drives in my array. Anyone used these cables? I am also wondering if they are shielded since they are being advertised as server cables I assumed they were. https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00VI3MFMO?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
  14. I have the same cpu and mobo I5-2500K and Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3. Currently using it as a Windows 7 drive pool rig. I am contemplating on converting it to a 2nd Unraid box however it would only be used as a Samba server. I knew the I5-2500K supported vt-x but not vt-d. It is also my understanding the Gigabyte GA-Z68X-UD3H-B3 mobo does not support vt-d, but does support vt-x. So replacing the 2500K with a I7-3770 would not accomplish much for pci passthrough. So vms would only using the virtual graphic card and not the physical Nvidia 650 TI Boost. I also have a spare Nvidia GTX 750 and GTX 1060 that I could use. But will not since vt-d is not supported.
  15. PS: I realize I can do something the same with the syntax for iptables but I am not as comfortable with it's syntax. Also upon a reboot of Unraid the iptables would be reset to the Unraid defaults. UFW would hopefully make the changes permanent.
  16. Any chance of this happening? I find ufw on Zorin samba very useful.
  17. Still having issues with my Intel Hawell I7-4700S. Whenever I enable the onboard graphics for my VM and then launch the VM, it causes my Unraid server to freeze. This issue should be a top priority for Unraid as these Intel cpus with onboard graphics are the perfect solution for NAS and servers. Curious, does the AMD cpus with onboard graphics also have this issue? Despite this issue, simply love Unraid. Cheers
  18. Did you ever find out if this would work with Unraid?
  19. Love Unraid. It is very stable and setting up shares is a breeze. But I very much dislike it's virtualization. I tried everything suggested here and I get terrible performance for my Windows 11 vm and my Ubuntu vm. I do not run both vms concurrently. I am retired from the IT industry where I worked with Vmware and Citrix. Due to lack of drivers, we virtualized our Novell Netware servers. My Unraid server is a i7-4770S with 32 gigs of RAM. I get better performance with VirtualBox installed on my I5-2500 Windows 10 computer with 16 gigs of ram. On VirtualBox I get near metal performance for my Ubuntu vm. I seem to have had better vm performance on an earlier build of Unraid as I only fire up a vm pc once or twice every two months. Unraid really needs to make vm easier to do or offer us a VirtualBox docker. If I had the small hardware I would build a Proxmox box and be done with Unraid's virt manager.
  20. When I run UNBALANCE and attempt to move a folder I get a warning about user nobody not having enough rights. When I go into the settings for UNBLANCE I on see Enable server and port. I do not see the user setting that is mentioned earlier in the thread. I am assuming I need to change the user to root or an equivalent admin. How do I run UNBALANCE as root? Thanks
  21. Somehow WSD got enabled and once again Unraid crashed. Is there a way to permenatley to disable WSD so installing patches and updates does not re-enable WSD?
  22. Attached are the results from these three commands ls al / ls -al /root ls -al /mnt
  23. The only reason I wanted to use Krusader, it was recommended to use Krusader if you did not want to use a text editor like nano or vi as the config file I was editing have over 200 lines in it. I I've used nano and vi in past for small config files fstab or samb but not for a config file with over 200 lines. I was told Krusader has a built in gui text editor.
  24. When I recently upgraded to 6.11.5 I started to get a few random freezes as I did earlier in this thread. I checked and Samba WSD was now enabled, perhaps due to the upgrade to 6.11.5. So I disabled WSD and has not frozen yet.
