  1. I have two Unraid servers. The USB flash drives I use in both are identical even though the Unraid configuration is slightly different. In server #1, both flash drives boot up Unraid with no problems. In server #2 (the one that prompted OP) neither flash drive boots up Unraid and both hang at "waiting up to 30 seconds for device with label UNRAID to come online..." and eventually prompt to press ENTER to reboot as an UNRAID device is not found. It looks like a hardware problem (USB controller apparently). I also tried to boot a Linux Live USB flash drive in both systems. It works in server #1 and fails to boot in server #2.
  2. CPU-based (software) transcoding is measured by a passmark score. The CPU indicated above has a passmark score of 15974. Transcoding 4K with CPU only requires a much, much more powerful CPU than that. The estimated passmark score for even one 4K stream is 17,000. For transcoding 1080p streams, 2000 passmarks per stream are recommended with a single thread rating of 2000 also recommended. The CPU falls just a bit short of the recommended single thread rating but would probably do just fine. Technically, you could transcode up to seven (7) 1080p streams simultaneously with the CPU (Unraid needs about 2000 passmarks itself for system overhead). Transcoding 4K streams is handled much better by hardware whether it is an iGPU or a discrete Nvidia GPU. Actually, the real recommendation is to make sure you have local clients that can direct play 4K content (no transcoding needed) and for remote streamed content have 1080p versions of the content. Transcoding 4K takes some grunt.
  3. I have six now. Never really use that many. I have the Flex 4K (4 tuners) and another two-tuner Connect exactly like the one I am selling. I'll probably end up selling the other Connect at some point. I just kept it while I made sure the four Flex 4K tuners worked well off the same antenna (they do). The Connect has it's own antenna up in the attic.
  4. ipmitool is not installed by default so if you need ipmitool, install it through NerdTools. I did a few things with the BMC with ipmitool but for some reason it was not working directly from a terminal session on the target machine. I had to do it remotely with a terminal session from my other Unraid server. This requires the following syntax: ipmitool -I lan -H <ip address of target BMC> -U admin -P <admin pw> <ipmitool commands>
  5. I know this was reported with past versions of Unraid but I have not seen it be an issue for a while. A few days ago, I started seeing this message when the server boots: waiting up to 30 seconds for device with label UNRAID to come online... Pressing the ENTER key to reboot does a reboot and then it comes back to the same message. Lather, rinse, and repeat. At first, the message would appear on one boot and then with a reboot, it started fine with no error. Now it happens on every boot attempt (reboot or cold boot) and I can't get the server to boot. Fortunately, it is my backup server. I was a rebooting a lot working through some IPMI issues. Everything was fine until it wasn't. The only thing I have done recently that would affect /config is update plugins and docker containers. I have tried the following: - reformat USB, download 6.11.5 from Unraid, net, manually install on flash drive, restore /config folder from a backup - try a completely different flash drive - run chckdsk in WIndows on the flash drive (no errors found) - USB Creator does not recognize the flash drives I have tried (admittedly just generic ones to see if I could get something to boot) Flash drives are USB3 but in a USB2 port in the server.
  6. I recently had an issue where it was not possible to enter and navigate the BIOS via a remote keyboard in the HTML5 IPMI KVM. This was with my ASRock E3C246D2I Mini-ITX motherboard in my backup server. This worked as it should in the KVM on the E3C246D4U. ASRock asked me to reflash the BMC firmware to the same version (1.61, the latest available) through the IPMI Maintenance page. That worked and it is now possible to enter the BIOS from the IPMI KVM. Just in case you notice some BMC/IPMI issues, reflashing BMC firmware could fix them.
  7. With my 9211-8i clone (Dell H310), I had to put tape over pins B5 and B6 before the HBA would be recognized by my non-Dell motherboard. This may only be a problem with the Dell clones of the 9211-8i cards and I don't believe this applies to LSI branded HBA cards. Also worth looking into is the fact that some MB/BIOS will disable an x4 PCIe slot if PCIe NVMe M.2 SSDs are installed. There are only so many PCIe lanes available (usually 24 on Intel consumer boards) so not everything the board supports as far as PCIe devices can be used simultaneously.
  8. Not completely correct. Physically, the 5th slot on that board is a full length x16 slot but, when the other full-length slots are occupied, slot 5 supports 4 PCIe lanes only. The first two x16 slots are in x8 and x8 PCIe mode. The card needs at least an x8 slot physically (which the x16 slot 5 is) but it can run on fewer than 8 PCIe lanes. Many Unraid users are running these cards with only 4 PCIe lanes. Since the card is PCIe 2.0, it will limit bandwidth, but for HDDs there will still be ~200 MB/s available for each HDD after overhead. This is enough for most HDDs. It would severely limit SSD bandwidth but they should not be connected to these cards anyway due lack of TRIM support.
  9. Well, if you have not changed PSUs and the drives were previously working with the SATA power mod, the 3.3v reset issue should not be the problem.
  10. Have you changed power supplies during this hardware swap? Are the drives that are not detected drives shucked from external enclosures?
  11. I am also running the latest version of Plex (linuxserver Plex, no updates are shown), have HDHomeRun tuners and am on 6.11.5 Unraid. I have zero problems with LiveTV in Plex. The problem you are having does not appear to be a general problem with the Plex update.
  12. iGPU/QSV does not use Visible Device. Follow this guide. Here is a bit more complex/older guide if your iGPU/QSV don't work with the guide above.
  13. I agree with these suggestions. I had to change from the pass phrase I was using to a 12+ character "complex" password in order to meet the new requirements. The phrase is easier to remember and more secure. However, the process as outlined by Limetech worked for me without issues as well as 2FA with the QR code on Google Authenticator on iOS.
  14. FYI - A post in the Ubiquiti forums (from a customer not Ubiquiti) claims the beta 7.4.145 controller seems to have fixed the issue with a UAP-AC-IW going into a restart loop if powered by the US-8-60W PoE switch. I don't know if it is true as I wouldn't touch a Ubiquiti beta release, but it is a good sign if true. Perhaps Ubiquiti listened to the uproar from customers on this issue.
  15. I have no information about future plans but I can see certain services being subscription based but I doubt they would do that with the general Unraid license. That seems like a good way to lose a lot of users.
  16. Right. That probably should not prevent booting completely anyway. It likely has more of an affect on the array starting as opposed to not being able to boot. I've never hit the limit myself and was just spitballing.
  17. I am probably holding out a little longer but it would take a W680 system at least to get me interested.
  18. I can’t see your diagnostics as I am on mobile but what UnRAID license type do you have and how many drives are in the usb enclosure? Drives attached to server at boot count against license limitations. Drives attached after boot do not. If the attached usb drive(s) put it over the license limit, it won’t boot. 19. I have just had that disabled so long and never really missed it that I forget it was even an issue. [emoji1] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. I did not as the board with the BMC/IPMI issue (E3C246D2I) does not require a special BIOS for iGPU functionality. It is in the public BIOS for that board. I continue to run the L2.35 BIOS on the E3C246D4U without any issues.
  21. And, he's back! I experienced problems with the BMC chip on my backup server so I contacted ASRock support and, what do you know, the next day I was contacted by our friend William Lee. After several attempts at resurrecting the BMC chip, William authorized an RMA and replacement board which is in process now.
  22. I went all the way from 5.14.23 to 7.1.66 in one upgrade with no other incremental version needing to be installed in between. Given that worked, it should be the same for 6.5.54. You can likely go all the way to a 7.x.x version now if you wish.
  23. About three years ago, I bought my current main server hardware in a combo from an eBay seller who runs a datacenter. This seller often has MB/CPU/RAM combos at appealing prices. Some are used and some are new but there are many good combos that can be used for Unraid servers. The seller went by the name imc but has apparently rebranded as Servers & More. They are very reliable and answer questions. Over 4000 reviews and 100% rating. Here is a link to their eBay store. It's worth browsing if you are in the market for server hardware.
