That makes no sense as they should be the same location.

Have you checked that you've got no appdata files on any of the array drives

Hi CHBMB I could't agree more! this is driving me nuts!

as you can see from my screenshots everything is as it should be?

Try running

Shouldn't see any appdata folder at all.

Hi CHBMB, thanks for your time on this!

Indeed, you are correct...

cache3.JPG

I am terrified of losing my libaries watched status etc but do you think if I renamed the mnt/cache/appdata/plex folder to mnt/cache/appdata/plexold and then deleted the docker, reinstalled fresh with the mnt/cache/appdata/plex setting plex should work? then I could stop the docker and move my plexold appdata into the newley created folders it could work?

Thinking about it, it wouldn't make any difference as Plex does not store any information anywhere other than the appdata folder so it would make no difference.. there must be something somewhere though! very frustrating as I can get my 10gbE network running perfectly but all dockers except this plex won't work with the 10gbE card!

Symbolic links that are created on /mnt/user/... do not carry over when referencing the share as /mnt/cache/...  Interestingly enough, symlinks created on /mnt/cache/... will carry over to /mnt/user/...

Plex makes very extensive use of symbolic links, so you're in a catch-22.  Personally, I can't stand Plex, but I believe you can export your watched status to something like Trakt and then rebuild your appdata on /mnt/cache and get your watched status back.cd

Hi Squid,

Thanks so much for all your help, to update you and help others I changed my Plex Docker to Binhex and now I have Plex AND my 10gbE card working without errors (all watched status libraries, users intact!).  I am sure that this Pllex docker would be fine if on a fresh install with the 10gbE card but could not find a way to make it work on an existing installation

Thanks Again

Im not sure if its Plex related ,or specific to this docker container. But every time I scan my TV shows library, Plex thinks files have been renamed, then remove all entries and add all again because Plex thinks those are new files.

Could it be folder permissions, or anything I can change? Plex Scanner Log have 13 minuttes of simular entries.

Thank you.

I seem to be having an issue with Plex not finding the server

I was having issues with Plex, and decided to reinstall.  I deleted the Plex docker and deleted the plex folder in the appdata folder.  Reinstalled the plex docker and that is when the issue started.  I've tried the other plex dockers with the same issue.  I've also tried deleting and recreating the docker img file, but I still get the same issue.

Here is my plex log:

So I am still having this issue.  It's been over 2 months now

Im pretty sure it is related to my router.

I have a router provided by my ISP connected to an ASUS RT-AC86U that I just got today because my old router died on me.

I temporarily plugged my Unraid server into the ISP's router, and plex was able to find the media server.

But once i put the new router in the network, the problem came back.  and the logs in Unraid are identical.

I have re-run through this support page again: https://support.plex.tv/articles/204604227-why-can-t-the-plex-app-find-or-connect-to-my-plex-media-server/

The Docker is up to date and running

there is no VPN or Proxies running on the router or Unraid

I've also tried temporarily disabling the firewall on the new router with no success.

So I'm sure it is a setting on the Asus router, but I have no clue what it could be.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello everyone, My system crashed when i was trying to watch a movie yesterday (1080p to 720p, transcoding on the fly). [Link to the thread if you are interested]

I am sure the docker is good as I have been using it for months. However, just a handful of time, the system freezed or reboot automatically when I tried to watch a movie / episodes.

Wonder why this is happening and crashed my system... Should I limit the amount of ram or CPU thread allocated to plex? Thanks!

  • 2 weeks later...

How am I supposed to set up my user shares and what are the location settings for my Plex library? On the linuxserver page it says to put my media in a share called data, so I did that and inside I just have /Movies and /TV Shows. In the plex web ui I created a Movies playlist with the directory as /mnt/user/data/Movies and nothing is showing up.

Inside Plex the path would be /media. With your settings this will link to whatever is in /mnt/user/data on your server.

edit: so your movies path would be something like /media/movies/ depending on how you named the movie folder.

Edited by wgstarks

I tried that as well and my movies are still not showing in Plex.

edit: I'm an idiot and forgot to change the container path! all is well.

Are you saying that you can’t select /media/movies/ in your Plex Settings?

I  just had to move the database to a new location. When I did that I had to re-add all my libraries. Since then it take days for new shows to show up in the library even though they are there. I have sickrage notifying Plex that they are done and they still do not show up. When I do a manual scan it only scan a small portion of the shows and then says "Library scan complete. Extra information may still be downloading from the internet. Every time I do a scan it seems to only scan the same shows.

I have read several topics but can not seem to find a answer to this issue

Update: It does find the files after mover has run. It never did this before. The only thing that has changed is that I moved from sickbeard plugin to sickrage docker.

Post your docker run command.

I do not know what/where that is. Where would I find it?

Your mapping is telling it to not include any of the files still on cache.

/mnt/user is all of the user shares

/mnt/user0 is all of the user shares excluding any files still on cache.

Haven't really been following the thread so not sure if that's what you intend or not.

Thank you that worked. Finally.

is there a way to confirm plex docker is using RAM for trancoding?

2 hours ago, anylettuce said:

The entire unRAID OS loads into and runs from RAM on boot. If transcoding is set to any unRAID OS system location such as /tmp, which is typical, it will be taking place in RAM.  As long as it is not set to a physical disk location such as a user share (including cache) or an unassigned disk location, Plex is transcoding to RAM

As seen below, Plex is transcoding as I am playing an episode of Sherlock and transcode is set in the Plex docker to take place in /tmp

image.png.94bd4fa32519ef43d164860b809dc1f1.png

If I look in /tmp I see the transcode session in real time taking place in /tmp/Transcode/Sessions

The Plex transcode is indeed taking place in RAM

At first I thought I had an issue, then it came to me that it was a direct stream so no trans coding. As soon as had the file trans code it showed up.
