Oui tout à fait. L'ajout de disque dans l'Array est seulement limité par la taille du disque de parité si tu en utilises un. Aucun disque de donné ne peut être plus grand que le (ou les) disques de parité. Même chose dans les Pools, si le systeème de fichier selectionné permet des modes RAID (BTRFS), on peut simplement modifier le mode RAID sans soucis. Pour la future implémentation de ZFS, je ne suis pas certain, ça semble plus rigide.

I get that you were burnt before and you have doubts. From what I read I don't that will be the case with LT. I can be wrong but I am cautiously optimistic.

I'd agree on principle, but it looks like it's an old generation of product. I'd guess he uses what he has on hand, not some brand new product.

The bent pins would be the first thing I try. They are way out and would not contact anything.

Your diagnostics might show what is happening and help provide a good advice.

I would not consider your issues as a general issue. I use them with 0 problems like many users here.

It is not a widespread WD issue. All my WD drives spin down without problem.

Tu peux peut-être donner plus de détails sur l'endroit où tu es coincé ? Concernant le remplacement de disque, je ne l'ai jamais fait non plus pour le moment vu que j'ai encore des baies libres. Comme tu le dis, il faut passer par une reconstruction avec le système de parité. C'est normalement assez simple, vu qu'il s'agit simplement de simuler une panne. C'est à dire : arrêter l'Array retirer le disque redemarrer l'Array et vérifier que le contenu du disque est bien émulé arrêter de nouveau sélectionner le nouveau disque à l'emplacement de l'ancien démarrer une dernière fois et là Unraid doit proposer de reconstruire sur le nouveau disque L'autre solution est de déplacer les données si possible et de refaire l'Array avec uniquement les disques que tu comptes garder, mais il faudra alors reconstruire le disque de Parité, ce qui prendra au final autant de temps.

It might not be controllers issues, if the cards are not detected there would be no drives in Unraid. Your diagnostics with one or the other could provide more details on that.

That could be the cause of serious disk access slow downs. 10 drives on a 2 drives controller is not a great idea as it require port multipliers (x2 here I think) that are not recommended. I would suggest looking at this thread :

From what I understand there will also be the possibility to have single ZFS drives in the Array. That would work the same way as XFS or single BTRFS Array drives.

I am surprised that there are not more comments on this new episode of Uncast, so I'll share my thoughts. To put it simply, I was disappointed by this episode. I am not looking to be mean or anything but I think it is important to acknowledge that and explain why. My goal is to provide feedback and improve things if my opinion is shared by others. Let's start by saying that I do appreciate Ed's work for the Unraid community and that I would not be capable of doing what he is doing on his channel or on this first Uncast. My disappointment principally comes from the content of this episode. It felt to me that there was a lot of retro-gaming content and only a little Unraid content sprinkled here and there. I have nothing against retro-gaming but when I launch Uncast, I am expecting to hear mainly about Unraid (70-80%). Sure, when there is a guest, I understand that there would be talk about what the guest is doing, how does it interacts with Unraid, etc. Here, it felt like it was more 20-30% Unraid. The episode was also quite long, while it's not an issue by itself if there is a lot of content I like, here it seemed to never end since it felt mostly off-topic for me,. Anyway, I am still eager to listen to the next episode, we will see what direction it goes in the future. 🙂

ASM1062 is a 2 ports SATA controller. This card is using port multipliers to have 10, this is NOT recommended.

Why do you think that ? The PSU shroud seem quite long. More than enough to fit with all the cables. I think that most PSUs would fit in the cut-out section of the shroud.

That's the opposite exemple : But a new user, not sure if he changed something ? The text seems kinda small so it's possible.

I checked the post, the user has changed the text color manually while on his previous post is was left as standard. Both look the same on dark mode but obviously this is an issue here. Not sure what can be done though.
