Hows the situation with using this to run a 2nd nvidia card? Would one just install a 2nd instance?

Soon™️ 6.12 Series
That's good to know. Also thats a bargain. Prices in the UK are a bit crazy. I am just in the process of removing some cache mirrors to free us 2x 2tb drives. The main reason would be the files will be on the array to start with but if they are in a ZFS pool that will speed it all up. I was going to have a play with raid5/6 but I don't know if that has been fixed by the BTFS team. I fly drones so we don't edit that often but when we do its fairly large files. Also very excited for ZFS snapshots. I guess I may opt to keep plex on a single drive outside of an array. How much ram are you guys using when testing ZFS out?

Soon™️ 6.12 Series
Very exciting. Congrats team. For me speed is no1 key as would like to be able to edit video in future on the system (up to 500Mb/s). Hoping to convert to raidz1 with 4x12tb this becomes main system with a second pool added in future. 10Gb network. SSD Cache pools remain for appdata & VM although they could also become single ZFS if that enables snapshots & frees up a mirror. If that were to happen would they be able to backup to the raidz1 pool or would that need to be a custom script.

General Protection Fault during parity check.
Any advice on writting a memtest86+ to disk with mac. The readme.txt is terrible. Followed a video but something has changed since his tutorial. Might try on the windows VM. As soon as I find a nice linux laptop I'm taking it over this mac. 10hours battery is impressive but not at the cost of not being able to do basic tasks. Probably go AMD as they are working directly on better battery efficiency in linux because of their work on the steam-deck & its custom APU chip. Normally I'd agree but tweaking has enabled the idle to work properly. See before / after After CPU now idles properly.

I'm a dipstick. Ok some progress. The bios updater seems to default to using the nvidia card rather than the build in igpu. No idea why as the main bios uses the igpu. Any was able to update the bios hooray. This should help things. Also changed a few more things in bios and unlocked c1e which might be useful. before it was showing as N/A for cpu features. Again have limited the over chip power to 65w on short boosts with overall to 35w. By default they give it 115w and although it's an i9 I want it to be efficient too. Have also used unbalance to clean up my drives to a single drive (with parity backup) ready for zfs. Possibly I should make this a cache pool drive & mirror it for speedier backup this would avoid the need for unraid to correct parity when I remove the other empty drives.

Apologies for that. I didn't know one could select a font or colour. I'm writing in the dark theme This should be auto changing with the users theme selection - I don't have access to that code.

General Protection Fault during parity check.
Still not quite sure what caused this. Did notice possibly ram slightly undervolted while CPU overvolted or by default allowed to boost too much. Ram is now overclocked to 3200Mhz too using automatic settings. CPU is now limited in total power. Its sold as a 35w chip but is easily capable of 115w overclock. Which is what MSI the motherboard has suggested by default. This is great for gamers but not a server!! Server has maintained itself overnight although with dockers turned off. I can't update the motherboard's bios because fans seem to full full wack and black screen. As a side question how do I tell the unraid linux kernal which CPU I have as I think this may be causing some issues. I have an i9 11-900t but its an ES test version so isn't in the database so to speak. It loads all CPU INFO it's numbers correctly but I dont know what information Intels Pstate is expecting. and in any case the kernal has put it in ACPI CPUfreq driver instead of PSTATE Driver

Dynamix - V6 Plugins
Anyone get anywhere with the auto fan & Nct6687 driver bug? The driver works for showing fan speed but if I use the autofan plugin it sets the fans to full speed or 0%. For the moment just using bios settings based on CPU usage. I would like to fans to turn off if selected drives (array which in future will be a ZFS cache pool) turn off for noise purposes. NVMe ssds do not matter so much as on motherboard and both have heatsinks & CPU fan is very close.

Reduce power consumption with powertop
The actual question is how do I manually tell unraid which CPU I have because it seems to be using C_ACPM instead of the Intel PSATE's I want to tell the kernal I have an intel i9 11-900t Or should I just leave as is.

Reduce power consumption with powertop
Ok thanks for clarification. intel i9 11-900t In intel chips we seem to have general boost all cores (performance governer) which keeps all cores (8c 8t) cpu at 3.6ghz with turbo boosts to 4.5ghz or Keep as low as possible (power saving) which actually changes the cores from 0.8 - 1.1ghz Is there no middle ground or a better way for unraid to distribute tasks to the cpu. Or something that says ok prefer to only boost these 4/6 cores. In windows theres alot of controlling the cpu happening but my vague understanding is unraid leaves to the CPU to decide. I can manually do it in bios under volting the CPU getting it to hover around 1.5ghz with boosting up to 2.5ghz. More cores also default to the lower 0.8ghz this way if not in use. This is on the performance governor. There should be 37 powerstates to use with turbo at 90% 'when needed'. cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/num_pstates 37 cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/max_perf_pct 100 cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/min_perf_pct 18 cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/no_turbo 0 cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/status active cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/turbo_pct 90 cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/hwp_dynamic_boost 0 Powertop shows this: note the readout of CPU frequencies seem to differ between powertop and running: watch -n3 "cpufreq-info | grep 'current CPU' My system seems to be using C1_ACPI - C3_ACPI

GPU Passthrough is EASY - Here's how
GPU passthough is much easier than made out. You don't need to do any of the stuff in videos.. Set up the VM with software VNC. Load the VM. Click to open VNC in web browser. Install windows etc. Set up windows user. Close VM. Then Go to top menu choose unraid -> tool system -> devices scroll down and tick the NVIDIA GPU or AMD GPU & its soundcard. Reboot unraid. Edit VM. Add 2nd graphics card choose your AMD or Nvidia device. Add sound card choose your AMD or Nvidia device. Apply. Start VM. It should automatically install basic drivers for the card. Now go to amd or nvidia websites and download the drivers for your card. Run the installer for your card. Reboot VM. Now you have a gaming VM. Enjoy.

Set a decent password for the steamheadless & also a VNC code. If you only turn it on when needed shouldn't be such a problem. Anyway... GPU passthough is easier than made out. You dont need to do any of the stuff in videos.. Set up the VM with software VNC. Go to tool system devices scroll down and tick the NVIDIA GPU or AMD GPU & its soundcard. Reboot unraid. Load the VM. Click to open VNC in web browser. Install vindows etc. Set up windows user. Close VM. Edit VM. Add 2nd graphics card choose your AMD or Nvidia device. Add sound card choose your AMD or Nvidia device. Apply. Start VM. It should automatically install basic drivers for the card. Now go to amd or nvidia and download the drivers for you card install. Reboot VM. Now you have a gaming VM. Anyway steam-headless is very nice as an alternative to a gaming VM. It will also allow your CPU to boost better which = better gaming. With a gaming VM unraid seems to limit the whole CPU cores to a general boost. Where as in steamheadless a docker gets better CPU turbo boosting.

Has anyone played with docker-OSX? This would run much better as a docker with shared resources etc. https://hub.docker.com/r/sickcodes/docker-osx I'm still learning how to add a custom docker Hope to have it up and running soon on unraid

Tips and Tweaks Plugin to possibly improve performance of Unraid and VMs
My server uses a i9 11-900t but an ES (test) version so as such unraid doesn't display it's an i9 but if you request the cpu info it does know its a model 167 & that it ranges from 0.8ghz - 4.5ghz Do you think it's worth me telling unraid what the CPU is? I have no problem boosting but it doesn't scale down properly. Any small task will boost up to full speed. Looking for some kind of middle ground where it can boost say from 0.8 - 2ghz. Then another setting would do 2 - 4.5ghz when running a cron script. Currently performance does full wack 3.8 - 4.5ghz and powersave does 0.8 - 1.1ghz Thanks

Dynamix File Manager
Navigate to appdata Open a few folders find a file with a wierd name like tea.hbx then click it. It opens a 'preview'. When you choose download -> it downloads 'FileName.html' Works fine for normal files like cat.jpeg

guest has not initialised the display (yet) - Shows when VNC'ing any new linux VM
Solution is reboot the unraid machine.

General Protection Fault during parity check.
Hi, I'm doing a partiy check and have run into the system locking up after 10hours x3 time now. It always gives a genral protection fault. The system becomes unresponsive and has to be manually reset. No response from IP. Afraid no diagnostic file due to complete lock-up. Manual reset required. Have read some similar thread about C states possibly causing this and fixed once disabled. Also wondered about memory but can't do a test because I boot in UEFI and the memest is BIOS only. Unless I can partition the unraid USB key? Dynamix File Manager
Also please could we make downloads work for all file types. It renames anything not .txt etc into a nonsense .html file that is a placeholder for the file we want. Also upload because useful for replacing single files quickly on shares that aren't shared. For example putting custom files in appdata. It would save you having to copy or move it to the location as can click upload.

Would it be that difficult to write the UEFI memtest when a user chooses UEFI mode in the unraid usb installer?

Did you try the installer.. usually it carrys on installing then reboots again. I found after then that doing a reset nvram seemed to get it to boot normally. Has anyone worked out to safely increase the number of cpu cores?

Some people have reccomended turning hardware decode off on the steamdeck when using remote play. I don't know if that is an option for the apple box. What does it show when you do a network test in steam link app.
