Could someone please help me with a strange issue I am having.

It relates to external storages using SFTP.

There are two issues. First (and this isn't that important for now) is that using RSA private key doesn't work. No matter how I configure it, it says cannot read key (RSA 4096 key, generated in linux via ssh-keygen, that connects in fine).

Secondly, and this is a lot more concerning, and I am completely stuck:
Using RSA public key, created by NC, I can connect to external shares, and upload files. But I cannot then download those files again (accessing the server directly, the files are fine, I can download them through other means, they work etc)

Logs are pointing to SFTP.php as the culprit, but that's literally as far as I am able to get. For example:

Here is trying to save a file I uploaded

```
 Error: fopen(sftpread://home/[username]/public//gba.7z): failed to open stream: "OCA\Files_External\Lib\Storage\SFTPReadStream::stream_open" call failed at /config/www/nextcloud/apps/files_external/lib/Lib/Storage/SFTP.php#378
GET /remote.php/webdav/[username]Share/gba.7z?downloadStartSecret=[11 character code]
from [IP] by [username] at 2020-08-26T08:13:59+00:00
```

line 378 is
$handle = fopen('sftpread://' . trim($absPath, '/'), 'r', false,

There are other errors for opening files, trying to save uploaded files, copying uploaded files.
Basically anything to do with interacting with a file that's been uploaded to the external share (all SFTP shares) via NC

Is anyone else having these SFTP issues, or could offer me a pointer in the right direction please?

My Unraid OS crashed this week and I have limped it back to live with no data loss.  However, I have lost some plugins and dockers.

Plugins are not the end of the world, but is there a way to restore the Nextcloud docker (and MariaDB docker) to get it back like it was?  I have a current flash backup file.

So I have started getting this when I try to connect to my Nextcloud server via browser:

image.thumb.png.7f141f5fac40909906d178bf6773a315.png

It says "Internal Server Error" and "more info in server log"
Syncing of files to the desktop client and accessing the server via app on android seem to work fine, its just that when accessing via browser I get that. So i dont really know when it happened other than the last months as I usually have used it via desktop client and android app.

As I know, its the file that for me is /Ncloud/nextcloud.log it talks about? (Ncloud is the share I have Nextcloud files in)
When I search for one of the Request IDs of the tried attempts, this is what the line says:

And I have no idea what it says, anyone have any ideas?
I dont know if Docker auto update before updating via nextclouds own updater can affect it? If so, how do I fix it?
Last version I updated to via Nextcloud updater was the last version before version 19 I think?

Hello guys,

I recently changed my off the shelf router for a pfSense box, and since then when I try to connect to the nextcloud web UI, I get a 504 Gateway Time-out. I only ever use Nextcloud on the local network, I don't have any reverse proxies and other then changing the router, everything else remains the same.

How should I go about troubleshooting it?

EDIT: Fixed it. The issue was in www/nextcloud/config/config.php, pointing to an old address.

Because no help I gambled and updated Nextcloud via terminal.
It seem to have fixed it.
I am not sure, but I think its best to update Nextcloud via its own updater and then update the docker, and not the other way around?

That depends on how long it is since you updated nextcloud. If you lag too far behind on nextcloud, you will get problems updating the container as dependencies will be updated.

I just had this exact same problem while updating to 19.02 from the most recent version of Nextcloud 18 (see error message below). I can no longer access the WebUI. I guess I will try updating via terminal if no one else has any suggestions.

Docker probably updated to the one for version 19.0.2 while Nextcloud itself was 18.0.8.2 or something, I would not call that far behind.

Would you reccomend in the future to upgrade via Nextcloud via web and then the docker next time? Or can that cause the same thing?

If only the docker got updated and that happened it is probably the same thing yes.

I can't say as I don't really know what happened. I can however say that I'm on 18.0.6 and have updated to the latest container and have no issues, so there might have been something else causing the issue.

Has anyone been successful with moving the nextcloud.log to cache. I have tried @gacpacmethod but I dont think it worked for me. Any help would be great as I'm hoping to have disk 1 to be spun down/standby. I'm finding that nextcloud writes logs every 15min.

Hi all!

i'm i need of some assistance. First of all thnx a lot for being a great community! Read a lot here but today i have to admit defeat.

Thinking i had a remote session with a playground machine i'm currently working on i had a session with my normal unraid setup and did a RM on my nextcloud folder in appdata 😭 Yeah i know i ignored the warnings dont rub it in and no my last backup is to old off course (disk full in unassigned devices did not spot it)

So reading lots of documentation i get the feeling it is salvageable, my data isnt touched im using mariadb and thats all still in place. I stopped the Nextcloud container. When it is started it thinks its a fresh install asking for a account setup and DB creation.

Im afraid to just try some steps i found online, and lose it all. From what i red it gives me the impression i should be able to restore the DB and the data with some occ commands? Much like after an update it must be posible to reconnect the database right?

 Who has tried and proven method? Hope im not the only one who needs to restore the appdate/nextcloud folder here :)  You assistance would mean a lot to me.

External storages

External storage enables you to mount external storage services and devices as secondary Nextcloud storage devices. You may also allow users to mount their own external storage services.

"smbclient" is not installed. Mounting of "SMB / CIFS", "SMB / CIFS using OC login" is not possible. Please ask your system administrator to install it.

i really want to use nextcloud but it seems the image dose not have support for smb any suggestions?

I had to rebuild my Unraid from a flash backup and have just now figured out how to recover and reinstall Dockers.  I have mariadb and Nextcloud dockers installed but am having issues.

Nextcloud is unavailable via webGUI.  I get a blank white page with "Update in progress." in the top left.  Some searching led me to try to update via command line.

Typing "docker exec -it nextcloud occ maintenance:mode --on" (the first step) yields "sh: docker: not found".  This is the command line selected from the docker.

From the main Unraid command line the same command yields, "Could not open input file: /config/www/nextcloud/occ".  Any ideas?

Good morning everyone.

I hope this information can be of help to someone that went through the issue I had.

After switching the container repository to move from LetsEncrypt to SWAG, my NextCloud would not connect at all.

If this is your case, just go to the new SWAG container, edit, and re-add your DuckDNS token.

It took me a while to figure out that was the issue, so I certainly hope someone can benefit from my experience here.

This just goes to show that, since NextCloud needs more than 1 container to work outside of our networks, there is always a high chance that the issue is not the NextCloud installation, but one or more of the other parts.

Hello
I've created an A record on my domain to point at my nextcloud container, and I'm using Nginx Proxy Manger for handling the traffic.
I get this error:
image.png.09ffc4dd9285cfa8c03d6b777605261e.png

So I thought I might have messed something up, and tried to connect throught the IP on a PC on the same network, and I get:image.png.5b6293304adc6d854202641066f36836.png

I tried looking at the log, but I don't know if I'm even looking at the right one.
Do you know where to start with this so I can get it up and running again?

I would really like not to start over with it, since I have some things saved in there that I'd like to keep.
Unless you know how to take a copy of it?
