  1. I found this in the syslog, but doesn't help me much...matches the '6' count but how do I tell what disk these are on? 2. I turned off 'write corrections to disk' in the scheduled now. Of course, I don't know what to suspect, since I have zero errors in Main, Pending Sectors, or SMART thumbs down... Is there a log or is this just that time when a cosmic particle hit my parity disks and the data on the data drives is fine?
  3. Disk 5 has 199 UDMA_CRC_Error_Count -O--CK 200 200 000 - 30 No pending sectors that I saw. Array has not been shut down (19 day uptime) so the error count on the main screen is accurate (0). Sooo....what now?
  4. Dual disk parity. I had correcting selected in the scheduler section for Parity Check. Diagnostics attached but I'll look at them shortly but jump in. NO disks have errors on the Main screen (all zeroes) and Smart data is all thumbs up. So, do I have an issue? Seems like a small one, if so. Running another check now, NON correcting. blacktower-diagnostics-20210502-1804.zip
  5. It *APPEARS* that backing up to a sparesbundle works better. I had a straight backup (copy this hard drive to this folder on Unraid) fail after 3.5 hrs. The SIMULTANEOUS operation, verifying a backup to a sparsebundle, is still going after just shy of 4 hrs. I started this one about 20 minutes after the failed one. One thought: since the sparsebundle uses bands, I presume the amount of files in each directory is lower than could be in the hard drive backup. Of course, no way to tell if it's the OS, CCC or Unraid. One thing we CAN be sure of is that Mac OS X SMB performance still SUCKS. Wish AFP wasn't deprecated.
  6. Greaaaat.....as if SMB didn't suck enough already. Still on 6.8.3 here on Dell T310 and it's dropping the connection during a Carbon Copy Cloner backup. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't. Fairly small backup, something like under 500GB over GigE.
  7. Working. Steps I took: Rremoved container Updated Community Apps Hit Download Hit Apply Appears to load faster too but that could have been because of errors.
  8. You don't need two email accounts. You can send it to your gmail address, i.e., use the same @gmail account in both fields.
  9. Two 4TB drives in a DS4246 did fine on preclear but then rebuilding parity on to both (parity 2) failed with 800+ and 1200+ errors. 27 hr preclear ran and passed. # # Step 1 of 5 - Pre-read verification: [9:04:53 @ 122 MB/s] SUCCESS # # Step 2 of 5 - Zeroing the disk: [8:41:36 @ 127 MB/s] SUCCESS # # Step 3 of 5 - Writing unRAID's Preclear signature: SUCCESS # # Step 4 of 5 - Verifying unRAID's Preclear signature: SUCCESS # # Step 5 of 5 - Post-Read verification: [9:04:38 @ 122 MB/s] SUCCESS # # # # # # # # # # # # # # # ############################################################################################################################ # Cycle elapsed time: 26:51:13 | Total elapsed time: 26:51:16 # ############################################################################################################################ ############################################################################################################################ # # # S.M.A.R.T. Retrying now on internal backplane on my T310.
  10. And this is why I haven't upgraded to 6.9.0 yet... Q: Anyone use alternate firmware or have a way to even update the firmware on a Netapp X2065A-R6? It works but per another post, two preclears worked on with this card on a DS4246 but then rebuilding both 4TB drives as Parity 2 failed and the drives got red X'd. So I figure I'd try to update firmware perhaps. Preclear ran for 27 hours and completed successfully so it's a bit of a puzzler to me. Running a preclear now using the internal backplane on my T310. So far, 4 hrs in and it looks fine.
  11. Similar. This used to work with the same drive. ST1000LM024 is a 2.5" laptop drive, not an SSD. Actually it was working until I rescanned the controller because I have unassigned devices and the Main tab was taking a while to show them (no blue square drives at all) so I did a controller scan to see if something had made me lose the controller...it's also under test by hammering it with 3-4 preclears at the same time...attached to my DS4246. Thinking it's just bad luck timing. Thoughts?
  13. One thing I do see, it's not the 3TB drive I don't think because after 2TB it ramps up a LOT. But it sucks at many points UP TO 2TB so I can't point the finger definitively at one of the other drives. So the last 1TB is only going to take 2 hrs. Almost 24hrs to check 2TB is ridiculous. It doesn't seem like full drives would cause that much slowness during a read as nothing is being moved. Yes, I need to work on that with deletions/unBalance.
  14. Yeah, I've used it but probably for best accuracy I need to shut down the array and test. I've got 2x4TB undergoing preclear and will probably be replacing the slowest drives so hopefully that's one of them.
  15. I do one a week, and there's one going on right now due to a hard reset. Knock on wood, zero errors each time. 2 parity disks. Xeon X3440 with 16GB RAM. Disks are either on a 3Gbs onboard SATA slot (or Esata but same port) or a 6GBPS backplane with H310 in IT mode. So, the only thing I can figure is one disk is slow, but they never bench this slow. SLOWEST disk I have starts around or above 75Mbps but as you can see, it's super low above. Ideas? And I think I've done extended SMART checks on most/all the disks and SMART data isn't indicating much. A CRC error here and there but that's about it. Some of the read/writes in the graph are a preclear. New-to-me drives that passed extended SMART and now I'm just doing a preclear before I 'bother' since they appear to be used but good shape datacenter drives. (Ebay. Warrantied, and I've got two brands / models for dual parity.) The preclear is in a DS4246 on it's own controller. T310 Dell and the controller is in IIRC an 8X slot, so I don't think that's it.
  16. Author of Recycle Bin seems quick to add features, like my request for an 'Are you sure' button for manual deletion of files was quickly added.
  17. Just to throw in, as has been said so many times if there's no governor showing in Tips and Tweaks, it's probably the BIOS. This was the case for me. Dell T310. "OS Control" is what I used and it shows up as "Driver: ACPI CPU Freq" after that in Tips and Tweaks.
  18. Got it set up and running but with default users 99/100. "To find the right IDs to use, issue the following command on the host, with the user owning the data volume on the host:" ..who 'owns' the data volumes on unraid? Ultimate question: Is there a more in depth 'For Dummies' guide to setup?

  21. One. But I am still researching if there's a benefit to using two on the X2065-A card, and so far can't seem to find out if you need two IOMs but I also heard for one person, using two IOM6's used LESS power somehow. Also need to check firmware version on shelf. Somehow.
  22. Just got 2x Netapp X2065A-R6 4-Port SAS QSFP 6Gbps HBA with 90 days warranty for $30 total on Ebay. ($15 each.) http://ebay.us/AlUU4n Got a DS4246 shipped (Best offer accepted) for $175. It came with 2x QSFP cables, couple of those M-F power cables, and a couple of 18" CAT 6 cables with metal ends. Also came with a free 1 year warranty. http://ebay.us/HQK4LL No trays, but there's a model on Thingiverse for them. So, time to fire up the 3D printer. I've got one drive just laying in there and supported a bit in the front with a couple thin cardboard pieces. It works short term to see if how it works. So far, as expected. No issues, drive is recognized, running SMART tests on it now, and it shows as unassigned device. Something is spamming the log tho... 23. Mmm....it would make more sense to me to have it in "Share Settings" and have it say: "Case Sensitive names for SMB Shares" as it is definitely NOT a security setting.
