  1. Well the solution is to write one's own code to do the task - as the existing solution doesn't function properly.
  2. Friends nearly everyone commenting here already has unraid and thus free updates FOR LIFE™. So please just let new folks choose to either pay a yearly fee or they can choose to pay a higher fee to upgrade to lifetime. When we build 2nd servers we can also make the same decisions. If no one pays then unraid won't get any new features...
  3. Have you seen the openfancontroller? It may be a better way to go? https://sasakaranovic.com/projects/openfan-controller/ Available on the unraid app store.
  4. Hey is there a newer version of this code to turn off the screen? I've got a usb crystalfontz off ebay. not getting anything with the quoted code. My device is on: /dev/ttyUSB1
  5. Sounds good at the moment I'm using a manual fan controller with a dial I turn but with your designed software & hardware I could automate this with some scripts. Awesome project for me to get ready for the warmer summer months.
  6. Realtek network drivers has been fecked over the latest LINUX KERNAL because someone reported a bug. So it is upstream of any linux based OS. Once / IF resolved the fix should come back downstream to us all. Until then you have to manually enable ASPM.
  7. This looks perfect!! It wont let me install without giving it access to a controller (which I don't have yet) so just quick question - Is this able to access all server sensors? so all HD temps & CPU / motherboard temps too? Rather than solely external sensors on the openFan controller?
  8. I was playing with this plugin the other day before a new build. It seems to work but does the bug where it shows blank. Also it includes any unassigned drives and I couldn't quite workout the code to exclude them. It doesnt seem to activate itself after a reboot. So you seem to have to go in choose the PWM fan and click apply again. Then the fan should spin down from your bios default 100%. The plugin definitely needs some work. I've changed tract and am just using bios and a manual fan controller at 50%. If you do want to control from within unraid I'd suggest maybe using a usb controller and liquid CTL instead of this plugin
  9. Hi just trying to understand SR-IOV... If you use this does it still need to be GPU passthrough'ed? I.E gpu is then solely available for VM's & not available for docker containers?
  10. Hmm thanks yeah turbo seems to turn back on with this command as now boosting back up past 2.6Ghz which is the turbo off limit.
  11. CPU Intel 13500H The issue is if I turn turbo off then turn back on it stays off until a reboot. It's a minor issue but have seen it on 2x Intel cpus. First one is a 11900T & this one is a 13500H. Does anyone else experience this? The new CPU is very good at stepping down so not such an issue.
  12. There's an AI category in the unraid 'app store' so this can now be added to the template.
  13. New 13th Gen cpu on 6.12.8 - I can disable turbo but when toggle it back to ON doesn't yield a result without a reboot. Any ideas?
  14. Why would you loose everything on a ZFS pool? Maybe if you only use a stripe setup with no redundancy but a normal z1 or z2 (parity) should provide the ability to heal.
  15. Has anyone with a 12 or 13th gen cpu done anything like this to control process split on effeminacy / performance cores. I notice unraid by default doesn't seem to be distributing tasks appropriately in a manor geared for low power. https://superuser.com/questions/1758813/how-do-i-emulate-intel-thread-director-behaviour-in-linux-not-supporting-it-yet
  16. Just got new 13500h system. Wondering how are tasks distributed between efficiency & performance cores on 12th & 13th gen CPU's in unraid? Do I have any control over this?
  17. Just wondered has anyone got ASPM on a 12G card? My fujitsu card does not offer any ASPM (even if disabled) where as my old 6g sas2 card does offer L0s. See screenshot of sas2 card. I know currently disabled but might try forcing it.
  18. Nice wasn't sure if it was this or sonarr doing .plexmatch files maybe both.
  19. My understanding is single ZFS drives in the main array do not provide bit rot protection. Well not full. It can detect bit rot but not protect as this is a limit of a single zfs disk. Full bit rot protection & healing is provided in full ZFS pools that have parity drives in their self contained zfs pool. eg. z1 / z2 / z3 https://forums.unraid.net/topic/140936-now-that-612-has-zfs-what-are-our-options-for-recovering-from-bit-rot/
  20. Think this might be spinning up my drives randomly to do a SMART check?
  21. Nice thanks will try this soon.
  22. Yeah storing family photos & documents is different from running a suite or are's & plex. I'd go full ZFS for the important family stuff plus a cloud backup. It's just once you fill those disks up you may want to use a basic unraid array for the plex media.
  23. The debate seems to be about paying new fees but I'm more interested in the roadmap features and timescales. Presumably if no buys the yearly fees for new licences then things will be pushed back & updates will be slow & might just be bug fixes with occasional new feature. Like we got basic ZFS thing past year (awesome work guys) with a 2nd part of ZFS coming soon. I'm excited.
  24. My 2cents is have a play on the trial. ZFS on spinning drives could be a waste of power. It's better for data that needs to be read fast like perhaps video editing etc. However you may feel the extra protection is needed but for me I can just re-aquire my media. I've added how I run my system for an idea of the flexibility the unraid system provides. [Main array XFS] with parity 10x disks from 12TB to 3TB - can easily add disks as my collection grows - it started at 4TB then I added more old drives I have laying around now its at 67TB using HBA backplanes to easily add disks. Shucking old usb drives gives me free 8tb drives. [SSD pool ZFS] mirror 2x disks - 2x NVMe 2tb drives used for appdata VM's & new folder storage until copied to array. One day I will upgrade them to 4TB. All my media is downloaded here first. [12TB Pool ZFS] z1 4x disks (1x disk parity + 3x data) - This needed me to buy 4x 12TB drives and add at the same time - used for my drone video business to copy large files quickly to storage (up to 1TB at a time from drone SSDs).
