  1. The video was done with measurement of wattage. So I guess the big questions is does the extra cost vs the savings in wattage make it worth it? Normally I would always buy new since IT quickly get old, but I think a server upgrade should last +5 years (Unraid)
  2. So you finally find a MB with 4 different PCI slots and you have to use the last one at the bottum for the IPMI? The screenshots of the webUI to change Bios settings look very lacking. Reading the entire post it seem like a Raspberry solution would be better? keeping all slots for expansion cards? https://pikvm.org/
  3. The problem is not resolved I am now doing reboots every week - sometimes I am lucky and can do it by a telnet command but mostly the only way is to cut the power. 😞 (Syslog server is now enabled again)
  4. Are you happy with this MB? and the IPMI? Does the IPMI card utilize obe of the PCI-E slots or is there a special slot for the IPMI card on the MB? UPDATE: It looks like the IPMI takes up the last PCI-E slot?
  5. Hi All I found this video: And I was wondering if the "Old" 13900KS (Same price as the new 14900K) would be the better buy as a more power efficient CPU? (I saw the space invader one video and he got the i9 13900K and the i5. )
  6. Correct its near the bottom of them all: But its the only one that have a total height of only 125 mm (3U case) In regards to the case cooling, its pretty extreme I have 3 x Noctua NF-F12 iPPC-3000 PWM running at 100% fan speed 24/7 (Very loud) but it keeps the airflow passthrough high. There must be some i9 3U case - Industri CPU cooler with some insane fan, that puts all the Noctua coolers to shame?
  7. Seems the size of the overlay is really big in Plex? Any way to adjust this? I Thought it would be small and make the title readable 🙂 UPDATE: I found that the local poster art is unchanged, and that the poster changed is the Plex thumbnail, I think that's why the overlay is so big? Restore didnt work for me, so I had to delete the library in Plex and recreate it again, using the local poster art in the folders. Is there any way to use Plex-utills on the local stored posters in each movie folder?
  8. I didn't even think about using my existing cooler 🙂 My thoughts was that a "i9 monster" would need something better I guess I can get a replacement mount to use it with the LGA 1700, thanks!
  9. No one with a Big i9 CPU in a servercase, that is air-cooled? 🙂
  10. Update: Closing all active browsers to Unraid and always closing active windows helped. Also I did a stop of all dockers and have slowly started them over the last days. And I think "Nextcloud + DB" dockers might be part of the problem? 5x24H days uptime new record!
  11. I have a VM on the server that have a chrome browser with a open session to the Unraid UI Closing that stopped the log from giving more errors 🙂
  12. Its happening again? closing Unraid connect window to see if it stops in the log. Attached diagnostic file..... diagnostics-20230913-1835.zip
  13. So the long errors above: "nchan: Out of shared memory while allocating message of size" Crashed again this morning. So this could be related to a docker? (I have now stopped everything except a few, to see if this makes a difference....
  14. Hi All (UPDATE has to be air cooler, dont want water in my server 🙂 ) Any recommendation for a server case CPU cooler that can cool a i9 (Intel Core i9-13900)? I have a servercase Norco RPC-4224 4U (UK SC-4324S) ( W x D x H ) 19" x 21.65" x 7.0" (483mm x 550mm x 176mm) The existing cooler is a Noctua NH-U9S (125mm height total). Is this even possible? (I expect to down clock the CPU since test shows that you pay to much for the last % and electricity is not cheap) Sound is not a big issue the server is located in another building
  15. Ended up doing a telnet/SSH and a reboot command. Could this be related to the "connect.myunraid" I have this setup with custom ports and are using it everyday! Only change I can think of? Maybe trying to run Unraid without and se if the problems disappear?
  16. What about this: I did a: /etc/rc.d/rc.nginx restart /etc/rc.d/rc.nginx reload And my services is still running but my UI is gone! (No way to login) Any idea on what command to write to get it back?
  17. But I am running 6.12.4 and I think its resolved in this release
  18. According to the uptimerobot the alarm I got was received at: 2023-09-10 05:20:06 and 2023-09-10 06:04:02 after that it was unresponsive.
  19. So I waited and it just happened again total freeze of the Unraid server, not even a SSH connection was possible. Cut the power and retrieved the syslog from the usb boot stick. (For some reason the setting to save the syslog to the cache drive didn't seem to work?). Please let me know if you need any more information that I can retrieve for you syslog
  20. Hi All Over night the system gets unresponsive (I cant even telnet into the server). So cutting the power is my only option. This time I did set an alarm to see when it would "go down" 2023-09-05 23:55:42 - unresponsive And I did the diagnostic just after hard reboot. I hope someone can help me find out what is causing this, after the upgrade? (FYI: I have replaced my PSU and my USB flash) Its like the network just "dies" next time I will try to ping the server.... Really hope someone can help me, I miss the old days where a reboot happend once a month 🙂 diagnostics-20230906-0645.zip
  21. Had to bite the bullet and replace my USB I got the recommended Samsung 32G stick And used the flash tool with a zipped backup moving the Key to the new stick worked perfectly. https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/manual/changing-the-flash-device/ Everything is up and running again and all the weird plugin behavior is gone! (I guess most other OS would probably crash, but Unraid still boots! very impressive....) Any way my USB wasn't that old and was also another recommended brand/model hope this new one will last longer.
  22. Last Question 🙂 These new Corsair Vengeance DDR5-5600 BK C40 DC - 96GB x 2 = 192G Are this "true" ECC? - I do like the idea to have a total of 192G of RAM Or is it better to get the Kingston you linked to? (Only 4800 the above are 5600) I actually think getting the right RAM is the most difficult purchase in a new build today! LOL
