  1. Can we have a way to update USB sticks without having to use the stick for the temp download storage? Something's changed about the update process. Currently on 6.12.6 & attempting to go to 6.12.8 There's a .git folder on the usb stick that is 1.25GB. Unraid runs in ram I have 128GB... why is the update being saving to my USB stick? Then processed. My stick is an industrial 2GB stick.. Also it says 512MB usb stick is on in the documentation... https://docs.unraid.net/legacy/FAQ/usb-flash-drive-preparation/#usb-flash-drives
  2. Noticed update assistant is proclaiming 'unbalanced.plg is not known to community applications'.
  3. On 6.12.6 I recently removed the main media download share pool as the drives has corrupted (nasty budget ssd). While I decide what to do I simply changed the primary to be the main cache pool (nvme) rather than the previously used 2nd cache pool. Prior to this I had used mover to copy all data to the array. So the media cache pool would be empty for me to safely remove. Have just gone to test something & noticed the share export settings have been reset. Minor bug but should easy fix. (May be fixed on 6.12.7 / 6.12.8 I haven upgraded yet)
  4. Would this work? https://www.crystalfontz.com/product/cfal1602cyt-16x2-sunlight-readable-oled
  5. Nice thanks. I've been checking and submitting updates to the new docs. Just couldn't get the search to work but as above was an IP block preventing it. It would be cool to write a few lines of code that take any old link and put the terms into the search bar. I'll have a look into it. Keep the knowledge alive in the forums.
  6. Ok figured it out its a geo block on my router (get around it if I use a VPN) which means the search servers are in russia or china or the IPs have appeared in a block list.
  7. Interesting.. how'd you get the search function to work? Seems hit & miss
  8. Anyone know what it said in the old manual? Links broke & nothing shows up in the new manual. I accidentally deleted my system share with zfs master & just trying to see if its a problem or not. Thanks https://docs.unraid.net/search/?q=Default Shares
  9. How does the convert function work? I just nuked my system share thinking it was going to be converted. Be good to understand how it works so I avoid doing it again.
  10. added some zfs documentation https://github.com/unraid/docs/pull/136
  11. Regarding AMD there has been a ton of work to optimise low power in linux by AMD & valve due to steamdeck. There's a very detailed video with an AMD engineer on youtube but all I can find is this crapy news article. I'll spin up unraid on my steamdeck and post some stats out of interest. https://www.extremetech.com/gaming/325379-amd-and-valve-are-building-a-better-cpu-driver-for-linux
  12. If one really wanted the ultimate low power build one would opt for a raspberry pi (2.7w IDLE) or other arm chip running an arm flavour of linux. When we are talking this low power one is not using multiple disk functions that unraid is built for as these might be 10w each. One can manage docker with something like dockerege - https://github.com/louislam/dockge
  13. Is this right that a bad sector warning shows in notifications but not the disks smart health logs? Confused as it shows up under Smart on the main homepage but then when you look at the disk itself nothing is logged. But there is a log in notifications. (Dev2) disk now removed from pool.
  14. Thanks - found the release notes have lots more detail on ZFS since last looked which was upgraded to 6.12 https://docs.unraid.net/unraid-os/release-notes/6.12.0/ Would it be ok if I submit an update to documentation that copies the release note zfs to the above section in the manual? https://docs.unraid.net/category/zfs/ Or are you guys holding out till 2nd part of zfs is implemented? The new manual is super cool.
  15. Hey have a drive going bad in a zfs pool of 4drives. These are sata ssd drives and I'm returning 2x of them so thinking of changing the build anyway as would be better to use nvme ssds & have spinning drives in the sas chasis rather than 2.5" drives in adapters. My question is how does adding a drive work in zfs pools? I know zfs is not flexible but would like someone to explain it in black & white. Then I can also copy it to the documentation for others to use. I also have a nvme mirror pool of 2x drives, is it possible to add a 3rd drive (is the option another mirror only?) If I want it to be a Zpool (with parity) do I need to backup the data and start from scratch creating a new pool of the 3 drives? Also just for clarity if say I had 4drives in a z1 pool & wanted to add another drive what are the options. Can I make it a z1 pool of 5 drives? Can I make it a z2 pool? Thanks
  16. Got this happening on a budget ssd - Fanxiang S101 2TB SSD SATA III 6Gb/s 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive, Read Speed up to 550MB/sec, Has a 3year 'chinese warranty' but to activate you message amazon support they offer a full refund.
  17. Unraid connect is nice but I'd be wary about allocating alot of dev time to it beyond allowing it be a nice easy way to remote access. Not sure what the direction is? but perhaps it would be cool to make it into a tool to help people add a domain to their server and add other services. The dashboard itself is interesting but there are better tools out there like 'Homarr' which uses 'dash.' to show realtime cpu / ram / network usage etc. How do you guys see the direction?
  18. I think intel has power problems with 2.5Gb - I have intel i266 and don't get lower than c3 but do also have a HBA. Someone else in this thread said they were going to email intel about getting better 2.5g intel drivers in linux.. 2.5Gb in general just seems to use more power. I sold my unmanaged qnap 2.5Gb switch (QNAP QSW-2104-2T 4-Port Unmanaged Desktop 2.5-Gigabit Switch w/ 2 x 10GbE RJ45 Ports) because it was using about 25-30w for 6ports (only 2x being used at 2.5Gb). Whereas my 1Gb managed switch uses about 3.8w. TP-Link TL-SG608E 8-Port Gigabit
  19. Remember to keep it all in perspectiv. i.e that a single spinning drive can use 1w standby and up to 10w when spinning. My current system uses 100w idle so anything down from that is a win. 16x drives. 135TB. All drives go to standbye asap. The biggest drawer is the cpu. It has a 35w 11900t but I tell you tdp is bullshit as it hardly ever stays at 35w because the cpu core is 900mhz which is too slow for anything. This is why I seeking a newer cpu with split efficiency & performance cores so that hopefully it can turn the performance cores off.
  20. Just curious how long does it usually take for plex server updates to filter through to unraid app store?
  21. Seems ok any more specifics, what's your unraid OS version. and CPU, GPU. Were you doing any transcoding?
  22. Some of your cameras don't have any objects to track. I'd start with cpu detector first while you dial it in then swap to coral or nvidia for detection. Note the initial motion detection is done on CPU it then passes the still image to the coral or nvidia for object matching. This means you often need to mask out, motion masks & object masks for areas with lots of excess movement like a tree or large bush in the garden. So start by commenting # out nvidia detection & comment # out the model. See if you get any object detections & events. Use the camera debug feed. Then start adding back in the nvidia stuff & custom models.
  23. The issue with a server hangup when changing from turbo ON to turbo OFF can be mitigated by stopping the main array. Making the change then starting array again. I'm still not sure what causes the issue but basically the server looses responsiveness and cannot be pinged. Doe anyone else have any issues? I am on 6.12.6 with a intel 11900t
