I think I am too dumb to figure out how to change the order of containers?

If I drag a container  in the "start order" section to the right, and then hit save and reload the page, it's at the old position again.

Is there any additional step or save button that I am missing?

container order in the config.json is empty

"containerOrder": []

I thought that I might be able to set it manually but I don't know if it's a list of strings or some internal ids

The configuration file is also missing some of my containers, and I cannot change their individual configuration or save that.

The config ends at tika:

       "Tika": {
            "skip": "no",
            "group": "",
            "backupExtVolumes": "no",
            "updateContainer": "",
            "exclude": "",
            "skipBackup": "no",
            "verifyBackup": "",
            "ignoreBackupErrors": ""
        }
    },
    "containerOrder": []

image.png.9b2705f308a64bf85f8cce004ccb6042.pngBut there are more containers

Here's a gif of trying to change order

I'm having issues with my Appdata.Backup (v2024.03.17 up-to-date).
I've installed it for the first time and tried having it run overnight. But it got stuck on "[18.04.2024 06:46:58][ℹ️][Plex-Media-Server] Verifying backup..." It was on this step for over 2 hours which seems like that shouldn't be the case.

Here's my log after Aborting the flow. (you can see the 2 hour difference when it give the message "[18.04.2024 08:19:39][][Plex-Media-Server] tar verification failed! Tar said: tar: Removing leading `/' from member names"):

I'm not sure the best way to post my settings:

image.thumb.png.7f1af572874cfec9e0c1f205ef7c610c.png

Let me know if there's any other logs or information I should provide.

I did a quick Google Search and didn't see anything specific for this "stuck" or "hung" status on "verifying backup". But maybe I didn't look hard enough.

Is there a way to see logs after backup job has finished?

In the Status/log tab I can see nothing:

obraz.thumb.png.dc8d86198833b894bf2e5ccf7236cab6.png

It'll be in the backup folder for that run. Did you reboot since last run?

Hi, i got the same error during manual backup, in particular with postgres.

i didnt modify any settings. (i am backuping onto NAS Share).

There is no log file in the backup folder, I did not reboot after last run

Is it possible to add a list of backups & their date & file size?

Just be easier to track then than manually browsing the backup share.

I have it set to keep at least 2x backups but it's keeping 4x with a total size of 1.6TB which is a bit big.

I use the Appdata backup and run it weekly on Monday, however every Monday I have certain containers that don't work, primarily the ones that are behind a VPN container for the network.

I've tried to fix this with the proper start order and I use the "Stop, Backup, start for each container" because it seems like it would have the least amount of conflict. Though, I think what's happening is once it gets to the Gluetun VPN container which is required for some other containers, those then break and I have to go and manually restart the containers.

I might play around with stop all, backup, start instead, but has anyone had this issue and have a way around it?

The start/stop order seems counter-intuitive. The order defines the start sequence...but then stopping would be that order in reverse? Why? If you're using start, backup, start for each container, why wouldn't it go down the list from top to bottom?

With that methodology the Start order would be bottom to top if you're using the option for each container, if the stop order is reversed...? So the critical containers should be at the bottom, not the top?

Kinda makes sense as it is for the most important to be at the top.

Problem with a VPN container is it'll likely take some time before it's ready, but since there's no delay setting it'll be "started" in a second or 2 then the next is started, but actually it'll need maybe 30 seconds to connect to the VPN and actually be available for others to use...

Which is why the Unraid regular container startup has customizable delays between containers.

Black start from nothing is easier, partially running start during backup sequence is more complex, it needs even better customizations. Shutdown and startup conditionals and/or delays would be ideal.

As an example, for my nextcloud stack I'd like nc to be stopped, wait for it to close completely, stop collabora, stop mariadb. Backup all three. Start mariadb, start collabora, wait for those to be ready to accept connections, start nextcloud.

The arr stack is even more complex. The arr's and yt dl need to be stopped, then the nzb, then the torrent and vpn. Startup should be exactly the reverse, with ping conditionals ideal, blind delays acceptable.

Stopping is fine because it doesn't move to the next before the container is stopped and once it's stopped... well it's stopped for real, but on start many take a while for the actual app to start after the container itself is up

So yeah having start delays like on the main Docker page would be useful

Interesting. Guess that means some tweaking since the order is going to be different when using groups. A delay that's not necessary for docker service start may be for backups.

For now I moved the VPN containers to the bottom of the list in AppData Backup, so they should stop first...we will see if I can work around this.

With containers that use a VPN network, anytime the VPN containers restart the containers that rely on it go through a rebuild step, this is what I assume is breaking during the process going out of order.

If the VPN containers can stop/backup/start first, they should be running and ready to go when they get to the dependant containers. I will see next Monday if it helps.

I feel like a simple fix for this plugin would be to add backup groups with specific start/stop orders. I could group all the VPN dependant containers together, and then AppData Backup can back these up as I specifically state. Just a thought.

But it has that already, assumed you were using it.

Is it possible to have a container that was previously stopped when running a backup to be started afterwards?  ClamAV is normally stopped and I'd like for it to be started (and thereby running a scan) once the backup occurs.  Looking at the log, it looks like it must be running already before the backup for it to be started afterwards?

No, currently not. But you could place a file with the command „docker start ClamAV“ somewhere and set is as post-run script.

I'm not sure the best way to post my settings:

Let me know if there's any other logs or information I should provide.

I did a quick Google Search and didn't see anything specific for this "stuck" or "hung" status on "verifying backup". But maybe I didn't look hard enough.

I am also getting the tar verification error on several container backups:

 [23.04.2024 05:11:55][?][nzbhydra2] tar verification failed! Tar said: tar: Removing leading `/' from member names; ; gzip: stdin: invalid compressed data--crc error; mnt/cache/appdata/nzbhydra2/backup/nzbhydra-2024-04-21 07-02-59.zip: Contents differ; tar: Child returned status 1; tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

Is this a user or container issue or a problem with the plugin?

For months off and on I get this error; frankly I am tired of seeing it despite it means nothing. What is wrong here? I don't even leave MongoDB running anymore.

The error:

Event: Appdata Backup
Subject: [AppdataBackup] Error!
Description: Please check the backup log!
Importance: alert

Debug Log ID: c2b88e35-5351-4b46-8572-9a8dddda2430

No wonder this got ignored - I forgot to put bottom line:

'/usr/mnt/cache/appdata called mongodb-temp' does NOT exist! Please check your mappings! Skipping for now.

But mongo is skipped, as well as Tailscale that recently started doing the same thing - any advice?

I've been having issues getting a successful backup. I tried excluding things and all changing the order of things.... but never had luck. Now, I decided to simply stop ALL dockers before running the backup, and it still failed. A number of files changed somehow? And some other strange errors. 7 total failures.

I have quite a lot of images installed, but I figured with NOTHING running, it should complete successfully. Mover isn't running either, not that it should be moving appdata files anyway..

Any protips? Debug log: a5598295-47ea-4c73-b1c7-909c1dc1ea3a

Am I correct to note that it does not backup appdata of containers that are currently not created? Thus for instance, I have docker-compose files of stacks that I do not always wish to use. But I do want to have their Appdata part of the most recent backup.

I guess it'd be much smarter to have a script run at night, stop docker, copy the complete appdata folder to my backup location, and restart docker?

The plugin's working great but I don't understand the rationale for a warning for "no internal mappings."

In theory if I set the container to skip the only difference is the warning!

But in practice that's not the only difference:

I have a container with no internal mapping as part of a group (because its start order is important.)

If I set it to skip it's not restarted so it loses communication with the container it depends on, which is.

If I don't, I get the warning.

Is there an approved way to handle that?

I come back to the warning though - plenty of containers with no "appdata" so why warn about a normal condition? Maybe something I'm missing.

Hello, can anyone help with this?

I aborted the backup because it was getting huge (I had to exclude some things).  After making the changes, it created a backup.  I then tried to delete the bad backup that is +14gb with the "-failed" name and it won't let me delete it.  It has the r-x permissions.  How do I delete this?  I'm using binhex-krusader as a file editor.

A file browser's built it.

Go to shares in the top menu and navigate to the file then use the file menu to delete or change permissions.

Ive been having issues with backup completing since a update a while back. Ive deleted this file and then next time it picks out another file in plex that it has this same issue with ive done this about 8 times now to no avail . Hopefully someone can give me a idea why this keeps happening with only plex.image.thumb.png.1b27551e37985c3ed01f3912492bc3f7.png
