thorloki
New Newbie here, I have read the previous comments and I am stumped as far as how to proceed. I recently upgraded to 6.4.1- rc1- GCC7.3.0. All my plugins transferred over successfully except for the Preclear plugin that disappeared. I tried reinstalling the Preclear plugin a number of times only to receive notification that the plugin was "Not Supported" as seen in the attachment. Preclear icon does not show in Installed Plugins. It is visible under Tools but does not work. The preclear icon is visible in Unassigned Devices but does not initialize. Is this a bug that will get worked out or maybe I am doing something incorrectly. I followed Spaceinvader One videos step by step. I have precleared five other disks on my array with no difficulty before the OS upgrade. Is there a workaround? As usual, I want to say thanks for the help and direction. preclear error.pdf Quote Link to comment

trurl
I have combined your posts about this into a single thread. Please don't post the same thing in multiple places. It just makes it more difficult for people to coordinate their efforts to help. Quote Link to comment
Squid
The plugin needs an update to install under 6.4.1 Until that happens, it will not install Quote Link to comment
itsrainingben
Hey @Squid - do you know if the preclear plugin developer is active? I was trying to find posts of theirs, seems like it's been a while. Just curious if you know one way or the other. Thanks. Quote Link to comment

badg3r
I'm getting issues with this as well. The logs show errors that seem to relate to the preclear plugin. I attached he'd a screensjot of logs which may not be ideal but I'm on mobile and it's my only option at the moment. Quote Link to comment
Squid
Which unRaid version? Preclear is incompatible with 6.4.1 and must be uninstalled. Preclear itself though has problems with other unRaid versions for certain users. Quote Link to comment
naturalblue
Here is a reddit that has a link to a working preclear for 6.4.1. Quote Link to comment
John_M
That's a kludge to make it work with unRAID 6.4.1 but what Squid said is true and the kludge doesn't fix those problems: On 09/02/2018 at 5:39 PM, Squid said: Preclear itself though has problems with other unRaid versions for certain users. anxman
Where is this install package located, so I can edit it? EDIT: For future searchers, to fix this problem, do this: Open your Unraid terminal cd /boot/config/plugins Delete all of the existing preclear files and plg Wget https://raw.githubusercontent.com/dohlin/unRAID-plugins/master/plugins/preclear.disk.plg Reboot Celebrate Edited March 2, 2018 by anxman Quote Link to comment

trurl
The one thing I think is missing is some way to make users aware of the need to configure Notifications. Then if they do have a disk problem they will be aware of it. Quote Link to comment

JonathanM
People will still want a stress test built into unraid besides the parity check and smart. They want to test the disk BEFORE array inclusion, not after, but still want to do it all from the unraid GUI. How hard would it be to add a badblocks routine to UD? Another alternative would be to possibly ask @jbartlett to include an option for thorough testing in his diskspeed script, since feature creep is already a thing there as well. 2 Quote Link to comment

It's on the far off To-Do list along with a heat map of each platter. 1 Quote Link to comment
bonienl
"make users aware of the need to configure Notifications" This can also be achieved by introducing an installation wizard, guiding the user through all basic steps to start using unRAID. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
BRiT
And what will tell the user to install the install wizard? Or would that be base os? Quote Link to comment
