Hello, I am unable to use this to delete an sql database that was left behind when I deleted nextcloud and mariadb. I have tried to find a solution and just cant figure it out.

See the Recommended Post at the top of this page.  That will allow you to delete any file on the system since you will than have root privileges.

The problem was that in 6.8.0-rc1  I could not access the the Flash Drive ( boot drive) from Krusader.   The reason being that Limetech has changed the permission to the flash drive when it is mounted in the version.  The only way in this version (and all future versions) to access the drive is through SMB or as user 'root'.  (Understand that they are insistent that they are not going to change.)  Currently, Krusader is being run as user 'nobody'.

For anyone else looking for an answer, the answer is "YES".  All you have to do is edit the Krusader Docker and change the PUID and PGID to that for the 'root' user.  It is currently set for the 'nobody' user.   On my system, the 'root' PUID is 0 and PGID is 0.

I did run some tests and I did not find any problems after making the changes.

OMG hours..... You are my hero lol! Thank you so much. I didnt even notice this at the top until @Frank1940suggested. Thank you both!

you have something running already on that port on the host side, either change the port for the container thats conflicting to something else, or change the port on the host side for krusader so it doesnt conflict.

Hi,  I'm having trouble with unpacking 'password protected' rars.
Basically it sits in testing archive mode and there is no indication that it's waiting for a password nor a dialog box.
Is there a tutorial or info on how to configure settings for this? My google searches turned up empty.

Hi All & @binhex,

Trying to run Krusader, which has been working fine for years, and now I get a noVNC error when launching.

Attached is the error message and the various logs.

Oh, and tried uninstalling an re-installing and it did not help.

Thanks!!!

i think from memory this is a browser related issue, try a different browser, or incognito mode for your browser, if it fixes it then clear down cookies and try it again.

Hi @binhex,

Cleared all of the cookies as suggested, but still kept getting the error.

So I uninstalled and removed everything, even in appdata, and reinstalled.

Works like a champ again!

As always your work and assistance are greatly appreciated!!!! (Beers 🍻 to come at Christmas :) )

As a quick aside, who would be the best to hit up regarding server networking?

ALL I want to do is get the default (eth0) onto a new 10Gbe card I have installed, and keep the onboards as extras (?failovers?).

Thanks!

Start a new thread in the 'General Support' sub-forum and pose your question there.  Be sure to include hardware details and describe exactly what you would like to do.

Please NO!!!!  You logon onto the server with a user name and password.  When you logon, you have root privileges.  You  can log off from the GUI by clicking on a button if you wish to prevent access to this Docker.  Why introduce another username and password to get to a file manager  which has far less potential for doing damage than the 'popup' terminal built into the GUI that has absolutely no protection on it?

Um, in case someone else finds the ip:port of your krusader docker??

Um, in case someone else finds the ip:port of your krusader docker??

Are you exposing that to the internet somehow?

(By the way, it was a question to a quote from three years ago.) I seem to recall that you could get to it from the LAN side of the firewall if you have a malicious LAN user.  I thought there was a password option at one time but I can't seem to fine where to set it up now.   I simply decided it was easier to start and stop the Krusader Docker rather than getting involved with another password situation.

I am on the :test version of krusader and noticed it got an update.

After updating my taskbar disappeared so that if a copy window pops up and I click away from it, I can't figure out how to pull it up again?

I will just move back to the latest branch but figured I would let you know.

I'm having issues with this method for extracting files from a rar set. For some reason the extract starts fine, but randomly it will stop popping up a Information --- Krusader error dialog saying 'access denied' to the file within the rar set. Sometimes it seems to work with no issues, but most of the time it fails on a rar set that's larger than 4GB in size, for example one containing an iso file.

My Krusader log entries from an attempt made just a few minutes ago....

2019-08-22 13:19:53,732 DEBG 'start' stderr output:
kdeinit5: Got EXEC_NEW '/usr/lib/qt/plugins/kf5/kio/file.so' from launcher.
kdeinit5: preparing to launch '/usr/lib/qt/plugins/kf5/kio/file.so'

2019-08-22 13:19:53,740 DEBG 'start' stderr output:
kdeinit5: Got EXEC_NEW '/usr/lib/qt/plugins/kio_krarc.so' from launcher.
kdeinit5: preparing to launch '/usr/lib/qt/plugins/kio_krarc.so'

2019-08-22 13:20:28,795 DEBG 'start' stderr output:
kdeinit5: PID 225 terminated.

This has happened with many different rar sets in the past but I got around it by copying the rar set to another system and extracting there, then copy the extracted files back to my unRAID. Note that this occurs whether I try to extract to the array, to the cache or to an unassigned device (SSD or hard drive).

Any suggestions?

I am also having this problem, large RAR files +4GB.

I have had this issue as well but tracked it to a memory issue. The memory usage of the container would grow until it caused the whole system to run out of memory and generally cause the system to crash.

So I set some memory limits for the container to stop that but still, it seems to read the entire file into memory before opening the file for some reason.

I have just given up opening archives in krusader and instead use windows on another system via SMB and they open up right away without an issue.

Can also use the CLI archive tools to read the files without an issue.

As @TexasUnraid said, the CLI tools have no issue. So for now I select the Krusader Docker container and open a console vs the web GUI. From the console it's easy enough to use 'unrar e myfile.rar' which has worked perfectly every time I've needed it. I'm curious though - as I'm still running unrar from the Krusader container, you would think that using the console and the CLI tools would have the same memory issue but they don't. At least there's a simple workaround and it's rarely needed anyhow.

I'll also occasionally use Windows and the old standby QuickPAR to try and repair a rar set if the unRAID version of the par tools didn't work.

I posted this question in General Support first because I'm unconvinced it's a Krusader issue, but was told to post here by a mod so . . .

I changed the PUID & PGID to 0 as in the recommended post a long time ago, so should be root (?) However the permissions error seems to indicate I don't have the privileges.

My initial question was about not being able to copy files to an unassigned USB stick, but to keep it simple, nor can I create a folder on that USB stick in Krusader - I get the error:

Error -- Krusader - ROOT PRIVILEGES

Could not make folder /2_Unraid_Unassigned/Kingston128/test

The permissions on the Kingston USB stick are:

Owner and Group: Can View & Modify Content,

Others: Can Only View Content

User:nobody

Group: users

So it looks like I'm somehow not root even though the top banner of the Krusader window clearly states 'ROOT PRIVILEGES' ?

Totally confused - which isn't unfamiliar :) Anyone help?

As I understand it:

Go to 'Edit'  of the container.

Look at this:

image.thumb.png.2753d52743a54eb66ab58e744b38be23.png

The portion circled in a Red is the Unraid file directory that Krusader can work within.    The one circled in Green is what that path is called inside the Docker Container.   (Think that the Docker container is a VM that only runs Krusader.    A defined 'Host container path' is the only way that VM can access anything outside of the VM environment.)

PS:  I don't believe this is the default Host container path.  I seem to recall that it is /mnt/user    I modified it so that I could work on the disk shares  BUT I understand the issue of data corruption if one uses Krusader (or any other  file manager) to move files between disk shares and user shares!!!

By the way, you can add in a 'Host Path 3:' to point to another place in the Unraid file structure...

Thanks Frank.

I just deleted and reinstalled the Krusader docker to start fresh and followed Ed's video here

UnRaid & Moving Data (Part 2) Krusader

I've triple checked I've done it exactly so my start up Krusader panels look exactly like Ed's with:

1_Unraid_Shares

2_Unraid_Unassigned

3_Unraid_Remotes

at the top of each panel. With this mapping Ed just points 1_Unraid_Shares to /mnt/user/ He does NOT change the PUID or PGID to 0 - but I'd already experimented with returning those to the defaults and back to 0 before I reinstalled the docker - makes no difference to my particular issue.

I get exactly the same result when trying to copy anything to the USB drive - effectively a permissions error that I can't write to the USB drive - which is why I thought it was perhaps more to do with Unassigned Devices than Krusader and originally posted the question to General Support.

I will try another USB drive - though I bought this 128GB drive specifically for this task and all my others are much smaller. It does work on other machines - checked that already :) Any other ideas very welcome thanks

EDIT: OK so just reformatted the 128GB drive to MBR and msdos FAT and now it's working as expected - so NOT a Krusader problem. Sorry to have wasted your time - in my defence I didn't think it was and only posted here because a moderator said I should.

Doesnt answer the question why this didn't work with the drive formatted to either exFAT or HFS+, but again I assume that's an unassigned devices issue unless someone can tell me different?

So I am currently in the process of  setting up Unraid. I have to move the Data HDDs one by one from my old system (non Raid) to Unraid. Which means plug the HDD into a USB Case and connect to the Unraid server, move data with Krusader, afterwards plugging that same HDD into the server directly (SATA) and adding it to array. Rinse and repeat.

It went fine for 2 disks so far. The 3rd disk started good. I had it running over night and woke up to the error message that some files could not be copied (also the errors in the Main Tab appeared). I tried to copy over another folder and got the error message "Could not make Folder". There is data already in that specific folder.

Krusader is running with root privileges. Fix common Problems doesn't show any problems. What could be the error here?

EDIT: The disk itself also showing:

A mandatory SMART command failed:exiting. To continue, add one or more '-T permissive' options.

This is the log:

Should I try and exchange the SATA Cable?

Edit2: I changed the Sata cable, SMART and Temperature works again and Krusader is copying files again/being able to create directories...

Edit3: Same happened again, Errors again... Is the HDD Toast?

So it would appear that I may have found a bug regarding Key_3 VNC Password, and am not sure if this could be an issue on the docker image side or the noVNC side.

I setup a password for Key_3, but when accessing the webgui I can get in with 70% of the password correct, or any combination of characters after the correct password. I have also attempted to change the password with similar results.

For example if I set Key_3 to Password123, I am able to get to the gui with Password or Password1234567890.

This isn't critical for my application and I haven't seen anyone else on here or the noVNC github with a similar issue. But it might be something to look into. If it's likely more of an issue with noVNC I'll post an issue on github.
