Move discussion out of Announcements.
I don't disagree with the goal. But I believe that @primeval_god is spot on with his statement above. The announcement thread should be the official statement from Limetech (and can add any additional follow up, as needed). A second thread for issues, comments, successes and problems would make things less cluttered, and allow the announcement thread to be more focused, while allowing you (and the Limetech team) to gather feedback.

Dynamix - V6 Plugins
And I am seeing the same as well. 6.12.6. Any input on this?

New Build need setup advice
The GTX 980 will handle h.264 (what most 1080p is coded) but from what I understand, only some h.265 coding (virtually all 4K is h.265). A Quadro T400 (current) or a Quadro P400 (previous generation) cards are a good choice for transcoding. Single slot, low power (under 35W). The T400 is just under $200 new and P400 can be found used in the $50-80 range.

New Build need setup advice
The 980 will not support 4K transcoding.

Keep 6700k build or Upgrade to 5800x
This is a question that is always difficult to answer, as it depends not on what you are running on your server, but how you are using the Dockers and VMs. How many simultaneous users are watching video on Plex? Is a single VM spun up occasionally, or are several run at a time? It is more about the burden on your current 6700k. If it is overworked and you are seeing issues, then the 5800X will certainly be an improvement. This is a question only you can best answer. The downside of upgrading is losing the iGPU (which you may not be using) and the cost for new hardware. The upside is doubling your core count and overall speed, as well as moving your need to upgrade several years further down the road as the 6700k is several generations old. It really a question of current system performance and your willingness to invest in your server.

Advice on setting up some of the *arrs (Radarr, Sonarr, and Bazarr) to work with media already present on the server only (aka, no bittorrent integration)?
For Sonarr/Radarr it does not matter, you can point it anywhere as you wont be downloading anything without a Download Client specified in the settings.

Install Sonarr and Radarr. But don't set any Indexer or Download Client in the settings. Bazarr downloads subs itself from the providers configured. I have not tested this, but it should work. You may need to do a refresh in Sonarr/Radarr after adding it to your media library, as Sonarr/Radarr would be unaware of any files added which they do not download themself.

Unraid OS version 6.12.6 available
Settings > Docker > Enable Docker and Settings > VM Manager > Enable VM Set them both to No. The rest of the settings will remain and your Dockers and VMs are untouched.

Unassigned Devices Preclear - a utility to preclear disks before adding them to the array
Understood. Other than the log entries, everything ran fine. Just thought I'd mention it, in case it was some unknown behavior.

Unassigned Devices Preclear - a utility to preclear disks before adding them to the array
I hope I am posting this in the right thread. I am currently running preclear on two 16TB drives. Usually I don't run preclear, but bought these from an eBay vendor I had not used before. My logs are being spammed by these spin down / read SMART messages every 15 minutes (x2 as two drives pre-clearing). Looks as it kicked in at Step 5 - Post-read. See screenshot. 15 minutes is my default spin down delay. Should that apply to unmounted, unformatted UD drives as well? That would align with when my system began do display the highlighted below: This is probably not the behavior that would be expected. The preclear is almost complete, no errors so far. malta-tower-diagnostics-20231208-0604.zip

AMD Radeon Driver Transcoding Support
There really isn't much out there, and what you can find for AMD and transcoding is scattered. AMD pretty much ceded video transcoding to Nvidia and Intel for over a decade. It has only been recent (the past year) where much of anything has been developed for AMD transcoding support and that has been for their APU, which have the Vega processor for their iGPU, not the Navi as in your 7800 XT. So you likely won't find much support.

Unraid OS version 6.12.6 available
Along with a flash drive backup, I usually: Grab a diagnostic (full of useful info if things go sideways) A printout of the Main tab (array and drive assignments) Set array, docker and VM to not start automatically (I'll start them up manually at first, once I see things are working properly) Manually stop the array before updating (avoids any unclean shutdown) When all works perfectly, none of this is needed. But better to have it and not need it than...

Plex Media Server Execution error, Server Error after switching from Intel to AMD build
Check your Docker template (Advance View). Anything in there (extra parameters?) that is for Intel hw transcoding?

Move discussion out of Announcements.
I don't understand why the announcement thread isn't just locked (by default) when created. At the bottom of the thread can have verbiage which directs folks with issues that need assistance to open a thread in General Support and/or a link to a thread (in Announcements?) for comments (such as kudos or quirks during update).

[Plugin] Appdata.Backup
Perhaps it is the thumbnails. As for me, my backup server has only media share backups, and that is nearly 18TB of data. And it doesn't include any of my 4K stuff.

First unRAID setup, best version?
Setting up a new system, your best bet now is to install the latest - 6.12.6 Community Applications was recently updated that you won't be able to download any Docker or Plugin if you aren't at least running 6.12.x., and you certainly will wish to do that with a brand new setup. There have been sum significant changes in Unraid which makes it difficult to support earlier Unraid versions along with the current one.

New to Unraid a few questions ...
Typical (default) locations: Appdata is stored in the where it is specified in the Docker Template. Typically in the Appdata Share, best kept on fast drive (SSD / cache). Docker executable files are held in the docker image file, the location is specified in Settings > Docker. Default is in the System Share (again, on fast drive - SSD / Cache) The rest of your data files are wherever you put them. Defined in the Docker Template and mapped accordingly to the application inside the Docker container.

After reading this new article, you may wish to add that array upgrade to your Christmas list: Hard drive prices could go up significantly after the rumored 'collapse' of key player — paving the way for growing SSD domination in the storage market

Any benefit having Intel "K" processor over "non K"?
Exactly. More so now, as Intel will be (has already) been messing around with their product naming conventions, as they prepare to retire the "Core" branding.

Motherboard for 10 3.5 Drives Assistance
Agree 100%, and will add another good reason - Newer higher capacity drives will generally be faster than smaller capacity drives. I've seen this as I have moved from 6TB to 8, then 16 and now 18TB drives (all from HGST). As capacity increases, the density of the data on each platter also tends to increase, reducing access times.

[Plugin] CA Fix Common Problems
Hi Squid. A little bug you may/may not know of. Pressing the WHAT IS CHECKED button pops up the window, but no text is displayed. Latest updated plugin, 6.12.4, happens in both Firefox and Chrome. Was just poking around, in preparation of updating to 6.12.5.

PSA on SanDisk USBs
I believe what ChatNoir was getting at is there's a difference between a card reader providing a GUID vs one that provides a unique GUID. This is what is at the root of the issue that this thread discusses. Many of the counterfeit flash drives don't bother to burn in a unique serial number, but rather just put the same number on every one they crank out (when they bother to do so at all). These drives work in Unraid for the first person who registers it. The second person (and everyone else that tries) is out of luck.

Moving non-Movie, non-TV from download folder to PLEX
Sonarr and Radarr base their searches on internet database sites (imdb, tvdb.com, etc.) so they probably wont help, as sporting events (even the biggest ones) are not included in those. You may be able to do something with NZBGet scripts (such as VideoSort or EasySort). I have not used any of the scripting in NZBGet, may/may not be possible depending on the docker you are using, and support may be hard to find given that NZBGet has lost support since its only developer retired from it and no decent fork has emerged from the ashes.

Moving non-Movie, non-TV from download folder to PLEX
It all depends how you requested the download. It is Sonarr and Radarr that is moving the files from the NZBGet download folder to the Plex library locations. This is defined by the Category defined in Download Client and Media Management in Sonarr/Radarr. I would look at how you are requesting the download of your sporting event. I don't currently have it NZBGet running, but I don't believe it has a method of moving a completed file as you wish (I'm running SABnzbd now, ran NZBGet in the past). Perhaps something like NZBHydra can be configured to do this (I don't currently have that spun up either).
