Dynamix - V6 Plugins

Recommended Posts

New to unraid but have a basic configured box now.
Sensor to show me temps would be very handy, I know they are there on the .. don't laugh B75 chipset board .. .as I saw them when playing with OMV pre the decision to go with unraid.

On install the plugin gives me ##'s which I think means I need a config file "sensors.conf" and put it into "/boot/config" ??
? Does this file exist post install or do I need to write it
If not whats the format for it?

I'm assuming on the lines of

##############################################

chip "coretemp-*"

                label temp1 "CPU Chip Temperature"

label temp2 "CPU Core 1 Temperature"

label temp3 "CPU Core 2 Temperature

##############################################

And so on for the sensors required for display.

Thanks for any thoughts/guidance on this

My server is located outside in a shed and every winter i can not see the temperature because it goes below 0° celsius.

If you allow drives to spin down in the extreme cold, there is a risk of failure when they spin back up at those extremes. You need to insulate the server so that the case and drive internal temperatures stay moderate, or risk multi drive failure. Drives don't like extremes, too cold is just as bad as too hot.

This never spins down and the disks never go under 7° so that has not been any problem so far.

The machine runs fine in down to -20° and has done so for the last years but it only bothers me not to be able to see the cpu and motherboard temp when it goes below zero.

is there a chance to modify the temperature script so it shows negative numbers?

I was thinking about a backup to another physical location like my shed also but I have the opposite problem. Gets too hot from Nov-May.
Probably 50-60c inside easily on a hot sunny day.
One of those American plastic type ones. (I'm in the southern hemisphere)
Right next to the shed I have lan and power for the pool so would have been a good place apart from the extreme heat. :(
Super dry inside also.

Hello Everybody,

I´ve a little stuck with a System Temp and Auto Fan Control on a B550 Taichi from Asrock. Maybe someone has already done it with this bord because after I changed from a MSI X470 nothing is working anymore :( . The Problem is that the Fans are not shown in the “System temp” Plugin and that is needed to add the fans to the fan control plugin. With the old bord it was working perfectly but sadly now I only can control the fans in BIOS. Actually for the CPU Fan thats ok but i need to controll the HDD fans.

What I’ve done until now.

  • reinstalled the System Temp Plugin (alot)
  • reinstall Nerd Pack
  • tipped Sensor Detect in the console and added the sensors with Mudprobe in the go file
  • changed Bios fan settings to every possible setting
  • Installed the Nuvoton NCT 6687 Driver pack
  • Added "append initrd=/bzroot acpi_enforce_resources=lax" in the start sequenz of the flash drive
  • Ask in the German forum
  • Googled a lot.
  • Attempt this workaround
  • now asking in the Dynamx support Forum

Would be nice, if someone has some advice and could help me. I´m realy out of ideas

Got it runing, after the alot of trying.

Actually the BIOS was the issu. I testet 4 Versions but only 1,9 and lower worked out

My system log is filled with this message (every minute):

crond[1489]: exit status 255 from user root /usr/local/emhttp/plugins/dynamix/scripts/monitor &> /dev/null

I can't figure out what is causing it. I had a number of dynamix plugins but I've remove all of them except for Dynamix File Manager. Currently running 6.12.4. I can't say whether this was happening on 6.11 because I never looked at the log.

Any thought would be appreciated!

Run sensors-detect and post it’s output

This program will help you determine which kernel modules you need
to load to use lm_sensors most effectively. It is generally safe
and recommended to accept the default answers to all questions,
unless you know what you're doing.

Some south bridges, CPUs or memory controllers contain embedded sensors.
Do you want to scan for them? This is totally safe. (YES/no):
Silicon Integrated Systems SIS5595...                       No
VIA VT82C686 Integrated Sensors...                          No
VIA VT8231 Integrated Sensors...                            No

Some Super I/O chips contain embedded sensors. We have to write to
standard I/O ports to probe them. This is usually safe.
Do you want to scan for Super I/O sensors? (YES/no):
Probing for Super-I/O at 0x2e/0x2f
Trying family `National Semiconductor/ITE'...               No
Trying family `SMSC'...                                     No
Trying family `VIA/Winbond/Nuvoton/Fintek'...               No
Trying family `ITE'...                                      Yes

Probing for Super-I/O at 0x4e/0x4f
Trying family `National Semiconductor/ITE'...               No
Trying family `SMSC'...                                     No
Trying family `VIA/Winbond/Nuvoton/Fintek'...               No
Trying family `ITE'...                                      No

Some systems (mainly servers) implement IPMI, a set of common interfaces
through which system health data may be retrieved, amongst other things.
We first try to get the information from SMBIOS. If we don't find it
there, we have to read from arbitrary I/O ports to probe for such
interfaces. This is normally safe. Do you want to scan for IPMI
interfaces? (YES/no):
Probing for `IPMI BMC KCS' at 0xca0...                      No
Probing for `IPMI BMC SMIC' at 0xca8...                     No

Some hardware monitoring chips are accessible through the ISA I/O ports.
We have to write to arbitrary I/O ports to probe them. This is usually
safe though. Yes, you do have ISA I/O ports even if you do not have any
ISA slots! Do you want to scan the ISA I/O ports? (yes/NO): YES
Probing for `National Semiconductor LM78' at 0x290...       No
Probing for `National Semiconductor LM79' at 0x290...       No
Probing for `Winbond W83781D' at 0x290...                   No
Probing for `Winbond W83782D' at 0x290...                   No

Lastly, we can probe the I2C/SMBus adapters for connected hardware
monitoring devices. This is the most risky part, and while it works
reasonably well on most systems, it has been reported to cause trouble
on some systems.
Do you want to probe the I2C/SMBus adapters now? (YES/no): YES

Now follows a summary of the probes I have just done.
Just press ENTER to continue:

Driver `coretemp':
  * Chip `Intel digital thermal sensor' (confidence: 9)

Driver `to-be-written':
  * ISA bus, address 0xa40
Chip `ITE IT8686E Super IO Sensors' (confidence: 9)

Note: there is no driver for ITE IT8686E Super IO Sensors yet.
Check https://hwmon.wiki.kernel.org/device_support_status for updates.

Do you want to generate /etc/sysconfig/lm_sensors? (yes/NO): yes
Copy prog/init/lm_sensors.init to /etc/init.d/lm_sensors
for initialization at boot time.
You should now start the lm_sensors service to load the required
kernel modules.

Unloading i2c-dev... OK

Hello everybody,

I have some concerns with the Sleep Mode since I upgraded to 6.12.:

After I upgraded my Unraid server from version 6.11.5 to 6.12.4, waking up from sleep mode no longer works.
I have been running the "Dynamix S3 Sleep" plugin from Bergware since version 6.9.x successfully. In the plugin settings, I had set the server to go to sleep from 02:00 at night (see screen). The server then woke up again automatically from 08:00 in the morning. I have not changed any of the settings over time. In addition, no WoL is activated in the BIOS.

Since the update, I have to actively press the power button on the server, after a few seconds the server is ready for use again.

Does anyone of you know the problem or has/had similar behavior?

I've setup my NAS with a total of five Noctua PWM fans. They are attached to two fan connectors on the mainboard inside a Jonsbo N3:

  • Two in front of the CPU - via Y-cable on one connector
  • Two for the HDDs and backplate - via Y-Cable on a Y-Cable (PWM side) on the second connector
  • One 40mm non pwm fan for the network card on the non pwm side for the hdd fans

But for the love of god I can't find any contollers or fans in the Auto Fan Control Plugin. What do I do wrong?

Ideally I would love to link the first group of fans to the CPU temp, the second group to the HDD temps and the fifth one to the NIC temperatur - but it shouldn't work as it is part of the HDD group I pressume.

if you read a little through this thread ... there are many unsupported controllers out there ...

and you followed the steps to detect them = sensors-detect ...

any may try some if the fan chipset drivers out there ... my one will help you ...

not included by design, you can only use hdd temps in the plugin, CPU Temps should be controlled by BIOS curve.

NIC Temps ... same here, also another temp controller therefore then ;)

all this is stated several times in this thread already, wish you luck to get at least your fans detected so you could use the HDD Temps for your HDD fans ....

Same issue here, however it seems to shutdown instead of going to sleep like it should. Did you find a fix for this?
Edit: Only fix seems to be downgrading unraid.

@bonienl I have a question about the reset plugin. Does the plugin essentially "reset" the USB drive as well? Would manually resetting the USB drive be more thorough then the plugin?

Thanks.

The plugin resets configs back to defaults. but there are options to retain disk and pool assignments
