Hi,

Great docker container and video. Everything worked fine until I changed cpu pinning and memory, then this black screen. Xml mods done.

It wasn't this. Actually, I found that it happened whenever I had another VM running. Disabling the other VMs, I got it to work.

Odd.  I guess it would cause issues if they happened to share the same cpu cores or the ram was over provisioned.  I have 3 vms on my machine and shut down one to boot up macosx because they share the same cpu cores.

Got to the part where I can start the VM, and I get the following execution error: "Cannot get interface MTU on 'br0': No such device". Nothing useful in the VM log.

Any suggestions?

Same problem here. Must be downloading the wrong recovery img.

Have you set up a different bridge for VMs? The container assumes br0, which is the default.

Nope, haven't set up jack for VMs, I don't even  have any other VMs set up anymore.

The settings would actually be for networking (Settings -> Network Settings). In that case you need to provide more information, unless someone else wants to make a guess.

Got it worked out, turns  out there was a separate bridge set up, not sure how, but I changed the name in the VM and it worked. Thanks!

I am getting the same problem. Deleted and did it again because I thought I must have selected the wrong version by accident but no success. Can confirm the naming says Catalina but when I get to the install it says Mojave.

I am getting a boot loop after changing from 2 to 4 CPUs, I've added the XML at the end of the file and then I had the same problem as frodr with the funny screen so I amended as per Holdlang with this...

   <loader readonly='yes' type='pflash'>/mnt/user/domains/MacinaboxMojave/ovmf/OVMF_CODE.fd</loader>
    <nvram>/mnt/user/domains/MacinaboxMojave/ovmf/OVMF_VARS.fd</nvram>

Now I'm getting a boot loop which isn't throwing any errors in the log. I can see this on boot (as below), then it gets to clover, I see a apple logo then sudden reset.

er_state_obj_get_for_recover:3848 No ER state object for volume Preboot rolling is not happening, nothing to recover

er_state_obj_get_for_recover:3848 No ER state object for volume baseOS (what I called my disk) rolling is not happening, nothing to recover

er_state_obj_get_for_recover:3848 No ER state object for volume Recovery rolling is not happening, nothing to recover

er_state_obj_get_for_recover:3848 No ER state object for volume VM rolling is not happening, nothing to recover

Any ideas? Shall I post my XML?

Ok, so when I tried this a few days ago I got stuck, but now I'm booting to the installer just fine.

However this time I picked Catalina, and it looks like it downloaded the Mojave recovery media, as it tells me it's going to install Mojave even though I picked Catalina.

My old .img file for Catalina-install.img was 2,095.724KB, this new one that says Mojave in the actual installer (filename is still Catalina-install.img) is 2,085.568KB

I've put the old file in it's place but it doesn't boot, it starts to load the 2nd bar under the Apple logo and doesn't go any further than that.

Any advice? Is it against rules to share a direct download link to the Catalina-install.img?

Yes, I should think it is. I don't know why it's downloading the wrong recovery media but a few people have noticed the same. It worked for me for Catalina and there hasn't been an update to the container since then so I can't explain why it seems to work for some people but not others. I can only tell you that I only used the container once and that was to set up a Catalina VM. I haven't used it a second time and probably won't because I'm not entirely sure how it works, where it's getting its files from or how they are modified from stock. I already have High Sierra and Mojave VMs, which I created the manual way, using installers downloaded directly from Apple on one of my real Macs. Though they took quite a bit of effort I understood and was in control of each step and the use of the EFI partition and Clover Configurator allowed customisation after the installation. This automated method uses a separate Clover boot volume and doesn't appear to allow the kind of customisation I need to ensure that the serial number doesn't clash with any genuine ones from Apple.

EDIT: One thought struck me. Did you use it the first time to download the Mojave installer? Maybe there's a bug that causes it to remember the first installer and then download it again the next time, even if something else is selected. You could try removing the container and its appdata and installing it again.

That's a common Hackintosh problem. I don't use i-anything. Did you change the NIC type as mentioned in earlier posts?

Just a suggestion that you keep a copy of the original working version of the XML so that you can repair your edited version when the customised parts get deleted by the template editor.

Another one with the same problem. Catalina template and Mojave downloading.
It's my secon try if this helps.

Yes, changed

Things are going pretty good after working through some of the issues others have learned from in this thread. I chose High Sierra because I'm a huge stoner I'm using an NVIDIA 1080ti for passthrough and it's compatible. The issues I'm having are:

  1. I have two monitors, a Dell 144hz, 1440p w/ GSYNC over DP and a regular 1080p over HDMI. If I start the system with the Dell plugged in and turned on I get an offset apple logo and a tiny version of the display copied across the top of the monitor. However, it starts fine with only the 1080p monitor and will recognize the Dell once I'm booted into macOS (with GSYNC even! via the NVIDIA web driver)
  2. Audio. I've passed through the NVIDIA 1080ti audio controller and the motherboard Intel C610/X99 series chipset HD audio controller but it's not working. the only thing I've done is download VooDooHDA.kext and put it in /System/Library/Extensions/ but I'm 99% sure that did nothing.
  3. The version of High Sierra I'm on 10.13.6 (17G2208) doesn't want to automatically update to the last version of High Sierra, or manually update to the second to last version of High Sierra.

Also, what would happen to me GPU-wise if I tried to update to Mojave/Catalina through the App Store? would I retain any kind of NVIDIA support?

Anyway, here's my XML
