  1. After seeing your request to JonathanM, I created my own design which I am happy to share. It does not have any markings or trademarks, but it does have around 350 diamond-shaped ventilation holes for cooling. I've uploaded the .stl files to Thingiverse along with some images, notes, and settings. You can download the files and read more design here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6520361 I hope that folks find it useful.

  3. I've been using Unraid for over ten years now and have gotten tremendous value from my perpetual licenses. Personally, I would prefer if things stayed as they were. I have no need for a fancy website and do not plan to use official support. Better documentation would be nice, but it's not crucial. I'm the type of hacker and tinkerer who gets by on his own. Having said that, after watching the interview with Tom and Tiffany, I understand and support their desire to grow the business and move things forward. The new model seems fair. Hopefully, the team will be able to figure out how to deliver critical bug and security fixes to the last stable release, so no one is left with half-baked and buggy software when they decide not to renew. Not having new features for those who do not renew immediately is absolutely fair. I appreciate Tom's ability to build the business by bootstrapping his hobby. This type of feel-good story makes you think not everything is lost in this world. My slight concern is that if the new business model proves successful, eventually there will be a VC or an enterprise willing to make an offer to Tom that he would be silly to turn down. Everyone deserves a retirement, after all. And after the takeover, all bets are off since only profit matters to them. Anyway, I wish Tom, Tiffany, and the team all the best and, hopefully, mild business success so that the existing users can continue enjoying the great product. Cheers from Ireland

  4. Friends nearly everyone commenting here already has unraid and thus free updates FOR LIFE™. So please just let new folks choose to either pay a yearly fee or they can choose to pay a higher fee to upgrade to lifetime. When we build 2nd servers we can also make the same decisions. If no one pays then unraid won't get any new features...

  6. Ultimately don't care what LT does but I have to say, subscription makes a lot more sense than current model. From a business standpoint I have always questioned the current model, 1 time purchases are never profitable. The 80 or whatever I paid for my license is not going to sustain the business. They HAVE to come up with a value proposition that includes a paid model, and this may or may not be the ticket, we will see. It's a good start though. I hate subscriptions as much as the next person but everyone has support contracts, think of it as a support contract. All that said, the bar will need raised to make the residual sub worth it for people. TLDR; Residual income is needed to keep LT afloat, this is probably a great plan

  8. Very well said! I too am of the same mind set. After watching the interview I could clearly see that Tom, Tiffany and the entire team actually care, not only about the product, but their customer's as well. I didn't get any vibes that this is just some sort of cash grab to get rich type scenario. They want to grow their business so that they can continue to improve their product and offer a solid solution to their current and future customers. No one, I mean no one wants to see changes in pricing, I include myself in this regard. However it's the necessary evil (so to speak) to continue to grow one's business, especially if you need to hire more people and make the company grow for the better. In general people do not like change and for some, it's just seen negatively, no matter how much you try to do it the right way. I think this situation is fair and I want to see them grow and make Unraid better and better with each release. I have no doubts that as time goes on Lime Tech will review and adjust as needed (as any good business should). It may work, it may not, but they have to start somewhere and go from there. I do agree that there should be a solution for those who do not wish to renew each year to have security updates and fixes to major bugs for a period of time after the fact. I don't doubt that Lime Tech is looking into this, they've said as much with the FAQ, now we just need to give them the time to review and figure out how to make it happen. All in all I do wish the entire team at Lime Tech all the best and hopefully this will help grow the company and continue to make Unraid better and better.

  9. Powertop [Support auf Deutsch] Powertop is an Intel tool (yes, works for AMD, too) to check power consumption states of sata, pcie, usb, etc devices. You can download powertop as follows, then restart your server and it will be automatically installed: mkdir /boot/extra cd /boot/extra wget https://github.com/mgutt/unraid-packages/raw/main/6.11.0/powertop-2.15-x86_64-1.txz Then open your terminal and execute: powertop Now press "TAB" until you reach "Idle Stats" and check your CPU Pkg (HW). Depending of the brand and model of your CPU you can reach different C-States. If your system isn't optimized, you will see this: If you press "TAB" you will see additional information about standby states of different hardware components of your system. In the tab "Tunables" you will see multiple devices which have the state "Bad", which means powertop found devices which do not allow standby/sleep states: Now you can execute the following command to optimize this: WARNING Many SATA controllers (JMB xxx or ASM xxxx) do not support link power management and your disks loose connection after reaching spindown! Read further before executing --auto-tune! powertop --auto-tune &>/dev/null By that all compents will return "Good": Now, your server should reach better C-States. Package C-States This table shows the dependency between CPU Core and CPU Package C-States: Several things are important to reach Package (Pkg) C-States C3, C7, C9 or even C10: Accurate power measurement - do some research how accurate your power meter is (UPS integrated power meters are usually bad) - close your Unraid WebGUI and wait 1 minute! (this closes many background jobs, which cost your energy, use your PC's terminal and "ssh root@tower" to monitor your C-States with powertop) - don't use Unraid in GUI mode (you should avoid this mode, if you want low power consumption) Powertop shows only C1, C2 and C3 Pgk-States This happens if powertop does not recognize your CPU (happens for most AMD CPUs and recent Intel CPUs). Your CPU could still reach C9 or even C10, but powertop is not able to obtain this and shows only C3. BIOS - only Gigabyte 8th or 9th Intel: enable CEC2019 - enable ASPM (Active-State Power Management) in the PCI settings - enable all C-States like C7/C9/C10 in the CPU settings ("auto" usually means "disabled", so select "enable") - disable Audio - disable RGB LED controller - disable Turbo in the CPU settings PCIe cards Some PCIe cards prevent states other than C0 or C3 (Intel). As an example my Qnap Aquantia 10G card allowed only C3 while all my Intel 10G cards allowed C7. Without any installed card I'm able to reach C10. iGPU Install the iGPU driver plugin through unRAID Apps if your CPU has an iGPU hpet Set hpet=disable as a Kernel setting if you have an 8th, 9th or 10th Intel CPU as there is a bug which can cause crashes (shouldn't be necessary anymore since unRAID 6.10) CPU governor Use the tips & tweaks Plugin to set the CPU governor to "powersave" or use the below commands in the Go file. 10G networking SFP+ DAC consumes less power than SFP+ SR/LR and both less than 10G RJ45. Depending on your internet connection the most efficient scenario is not to use a 10G switch. Instead directly connect your client with your server and use a second 1G cable to connect with your internet router. By that your 10G controller/card goes to sleep while your client is powered off. In comparison an active connection to a 10G switch never allows sleep states. MTU Surprisingly a user was not able to reach any C-State other than C1E after setting the MTU to 9000. SATA Controller Some mainboards or pcie cards provide SATA ports through an additional SATA controller. Sadly some of the most popular and usually well supported JMB xxx and ASM xxxx controllers have an incompatibility to "powertop --auto-tune" because it sets all SATA ports to "med_power_with_dipm". To bypass this problem, you should not use "powertop --auto-tune". Instead read the "Commands" paragraph to set the commands manually. Then you can remove the line with the "med_power_with_dipm" setting or you can set each hostX individually. Example: # Enable SATA link power management (this skips SATA host3 and host4) echo med_power_with_dipm | tee /sys/class/scsi_host/host1/link_power_management_policy echo med_power_with_dipm | tee /sys/class/scsi_host/host2/link_power_management_policy echo med_power_with_dipm | tee /sys/class/scsi_host/host5/link_power_management_policy echo med_power_with_dipm | tee /sys/class/scsi_host/host6/link_power_management_policy If you are using the ASM1166 you could even try to update the firmware. NVMe A user found out that a specific NVMe SSD allowed only C2, while with a Samsung Evo Plus the system reached C10. Power supply An unnecessary high-power and/or inefficient power supply can raise the power consumption by 5 to 15W. Choose wisely: - as low power (watt) as possible - as efficient as possible (like Titanium grade) - avoid dual power supply setups (server grade hardware is not build for efficiency) If you plan to build a setup with extremely low power consumption, consider these power supplies: - PicoPSU (up to 200 watts, but is limited to ~4 SSDs as it has low 5V output) - Corsair RM550x (2021) (this looses only 1 watt more than a PicoPSU at 10W to 20W load!) - BeQuiet Pure Power 11 FM 550W (similar to the Corsair, but 2 watts more than a PicoPSU, but cheaper than the Corsair) Notes: - As of writing this post all other power supplies are much more inefficient. So don't think for example a Corsair SF450 is more efficient than the Corsair RM550x (2021) although the former is Platinum grade . It's not. I have both and the Platinum looses 4W more at 10W load. The reason is that some of the most recent power supplies include a new technology to reach the future ATX12VO standard, which has the requirement of being extremely efficient at low loads. For example Seasonic told me in 06/2022 that power supplies for ATX12VO are still in development. - An HDD can consume up to 30W if you switch on your server, but in this state the other server components do not reach their maximum load. So summarize wisely to obtain the correct power supply size. - Do not buy the Corsair / BeQuiet if you don't reach a power consumption under 30W: Above this, usual Platinum / Titanium power supplies are more efficient. Commands Instead of using "powertop --auto-tune" you could add the following power-saving commands to your /boot/config/go file (stop your array and execute them through your terminal to test them first) with the Config File Editor Plugin: # ------------------------------------------------- # Set power-efficient CPU governor # ------------------------------------------------- /etc/rc.d/rc.cpufreq powersave # ------------------------------------------------- # Disable CPU Turbo # ------------------------------------------------- [[ -f /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/no_turbo ]] && echo "1" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/intel_pstate/no_turbo [[ -f /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/boost ]] && echo "0" > /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpufreq/boost # ------------------------------------------------- # Enable power-efficient ethernet # ------------------------------------------------- # enable IEEE 802.3az (Energy Efficient Ethernet): Could be incompatible to LACP bonds! for i in /sys/class/net/eth?; do dev=$(basename $i); [[ $(echo $(ethtool --show-eee $dev 2> /dev/null) | grep -c "Supported EEE link modes: 1") -eq 1 ]] && ethtool --set-eee $dev eee on; done # Disable wake on lan for i in /sys/class/net/eth?; do ethtool -s $(basename $i) wol d; done # ------------------------------------------------- # powertop tweaks # ------------------------------------------------- # Enable SATA link power management echo med_power_with_dipm | tee /sys/class/scsi_host/host*/link_power_management_policy # Runtime PM for I2C Adapter (i915 gmbus dpb) echo auto | tee /sys/bus/i2c/devices/i2c-*/device/power/control # Autosuspend for USB device echo auto | tee /sys/bus/usb/devices/*/power/control # Runtime PM for disk echo auto | tee /sys/block/sd*/device/power/control # Runtime PM for PCI devices echo auto | tee /sys/bus/pci/devices/????:??:??.?/power/control # Runtime PM for ATA devices echo auto | tee /sys/bus/pci/devices/????:??:??.?/ata*/power/control Note: EEE can cause problems with 2.5G Intel Ethernet. Config File Editor: Debugging Here are some helpful terminal commands. Spin down all disks (Unraid only) for dev in /dev/sd?; do /usr/local/sbin/emcmd cmdSpindown="$(grep -zoP "(?<=name=\")[a-z0-9]+(?=\"\ndevice=\"${dev: -3})" /var/local/emhttp/disks.ini | tr -d '\0')"; done Obtain ASPM status of all devices: lspci -vv | awk '/ASPM/{print $0}' RS= | grep --color -P '(^[a-z0-9:.]+|ASPM )' Watch CPU frequency: watch -n3 "cpufreq-info | grep 'current CPU'"

  10. Let's run through some basic networking and docker settings. What are your unraids network settings? I'm more interested in the setting for bridging and bonding... Then what are your docker settings? More interested in Docker custom network type: and host access. This is my configuration for a proper custom bridge IP settings for macvlan network access. Depending on how you want to use the docker network and how you want to access dockers from unraid we will need this information to know what type of network setup you are using. read about docker network types here: https://docs.docker.com/network/ and https://docs.docker.com/network/drivers/ Custom br0 is a type of bridge driver... By default, Unraid has bridging enabled and wants docker network to use ipvlan. This changes how docker setups and communicates network traffic to the docker network. If we run a docker image and set the network to host. The ip to access that docker if it has a webUI will be the same ip as the unraid system. Any ports the docker has will replace unraids ports and is more for items like clam av to scan itself or databases you want on the LAN to be accessible via your local network. Bridge network mode uses the Unraids Default 172.x.x.x dhcp server and creates a switch port bridge to communicate via sharing your unraids network adapter. your docker is asigned a 172.x.x.x address in bridge mode and how it communicates depends on unraid docker setting, ie macvlan or ipvlan. But more to do with host network access. Custom br0 means to bridge/bond the eth0 of your unraid and have it share a LAN ip address from your router. In my case my router dhcp is 192.168.1.x meaning the docker will get a 192.168.1.x unless I tell it otherwise. macvlan will make a random mac address to facilitate this, and some firewall/routers will see that your unriads ip is being duplicated or assigned to multiple devices sharing the same ip. (This is why the switch to ipvlan to fix layer 3 networking issues, buts only a problem with vlan network traffic controls... If I run a macvlan network I can add an extra option and set a custom mac address to help router traffic. (this was required in older settings before "private mac" and phones were connecting to the internet to guarantee a network path access. macvlan extra parm in docker : --mac-address 02:42:C0:A8:01:XX ->hexadecimal (0123456789abcdefgh) replace xx with a combination of a hexadecimal group... Then the router can static assign. Unfi has a host adopt feature that looks for a dns name unifi on the network you want the unfi network application to have a dns name set to unifi. So I also run macvlan to add hostname: extra parameters: --mac-address 02:42:C0:A8:01:0A --hostname unifi ^This now give me the ability to statically assign an ip address. Via dhcp on custom br0 network which is the LAN DHCP IP from my router... Unraid to use custom br0 it is recommended to static client asign an ip address. So custom br0 will be 192.168.1.x this mean I can access the unif application at 192.168.1.x Basic network that is dependent on what you run and how you run it. We need more info for troubleshooting network like these.

  11. I just tested this myself. I plugged in a hdd in my trusted 'icy dock black vortex' and it showed up in 'Unassigned Devices'. You could set it to auto mount and run a backup-script automatically. Then i un-mounted the drive, took it out and connected it to my linux-vm through usb. I don't know much about file-systems so i'm not 100% sure this is recommended.

  17. Wow that did the trick never added the port number on the GAME_PARAMS.... Thank you!!
    1 point
  18. You changed the port in the template but you changed it no where in the server config, so to speak that can't work... Please append that to the GAME_PARAMS: -port 27016 Source: https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Counter-Strike_2/Dedicated_Servers You always have to tell the dedicated server too on which port it is running because like you've done it now it simply can't work because you've forwarded the port 27016 (from inside the container, where the dedicated server is still running on 27015) so to speak the forwarding in the Docker fails... and yes, I know this is a bit complicated but otherwise it won't work. Always make sure to first change the ports in the container config, then delete the old ports from the template and then create new ones with the ports that you've set in the config for the dedicated server. Hope that helps, makes sense and explains it a bit more.

  35. I have confirmed it only happens with zfs, it works fine with two devices, with three (or more, most likely) it doesn't, it works correctly until the two first devices are below 50%, once they both get to 50% it starts doing the almost most free thing, keeping the last disk with twice of the free space of the other ones. I'll report this issue to LT and it should be fixed for the next release.

Or get what you say above to work "#Configuration without a cnf file" "just append the following to the Post Arguments" - where are the post args to append to, can you provide a screenshot or clarification? In my case, to verify this setting, in MySQL workbench `SHOW VARIABLES LIKE "secure_file_priv";` Thanks UPDATE: OK worked it out, Edit the docker, at the top change from 'basic view' to 'advanced view' you will then be able to see 'Post Arguments:' click apply, the docker auto restarts Done...

  40. Just in case anyone else has this problem, I found the answer in this reddit thread. I had to amend the LAN_NETWORK container variable in the binhex-privoxyvpn docker container to add my wireguard local tunnel network pool (you can find this in Unraid Settings - VPN Manager). So, assuming your LAN range is 192.168.1.0/24 and your Wireguard Local Tunnel Network Pool is 10.253.0.0/24 then you should set it as follows. Hope this helps anyone having similar problems.

  43. So - like the last post on this thread here... I received the same (incompatible) with my Windows 10 machine, but a GUID with my wife's MacBook using the USB Creator. Is there something MacOS is doing to generate a GUID? I may have glossed over it catching up to this point. If anyone else runs into the issue and still wants to risk it then the MacOS USB creator will potentially let you do it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Edit: I tested two out of the five drives in the pack I purchased with Check Flash 1.17.0 - Both appear to be genuine SanDisk products. I just transferred to one of them as my boot drive which is partially how I came across this thread. It seems fair to say that despite fakes legitimately being in circulation that the Windows USB Creator may have some bugs as well.

I have mostly gotten privatevpn wireguard working. I can upload and download for about 5 minutes, and then it all drops to 0, and at the same time I lose all network in my house. I have tried with 2 different vpns but only used openvpn with them and it all works fine. I downloaded qbittorrent and privatevpn wireguard worked with it, but did the same thing. There also doesn't seem to be anything interesting in the logs. Any ideas what logs to check or maybe what to look for on my router? Also just saw that 6.12.3 is out, probably won't change anything but installing that now to test. 45. Tried latest unRAID USB Flash Creator on Windows 11 and when attaching a SanDisk Cruzer Glide 3.0 64GB I see the 'incompatible' error. I then moved that USB drive to macOS and it sees the GUID allowing me to create the unRAID USB Flash drive without issue. Just sharing my experience with SanDisk. UPDATE: I re-installed with W10 with all latest updates and same issue, just macOS seems to be able to work.

  47. I can boot from the server iso, but the only way I could get it to install correctly was to create a new VM using SeaBIOS. Using OVMF would result in the installer either hanging, or failing with an error.

  48. Any container added via Docker -> Add Container has the configuration saved (/config/plugins/dockerMan/templates-user) If you've manually added the container (docker run or docker pull) then you need to make note of what you've done. If the container is already installed, then it will not show up in Previous Apps. If it isn't installed and you installed it via Add Container instead of bypassing the system and using the command line to install then PM me directly -> stuff like this is #1 priority for Apps (actually, any user reported bug means to me to drop everything that you're doing, tell the wife that the anniversary / birthday / valentine's day etc has to wait as there's a problem which has to be handled asap and just deal with it )
